(Bottomless) Cases that support Dex Station?

Could anyone provide a list of cases that work well with the Dex Dock? Please mention if you've actually tried it or not as well.

I've seen some other threads and they mention using various adaptors and whatnot, but they never really focus on cases designed to work with the (Intentionally?) incredibly poor design of the Dex dock.

I tried some of those adaptors, but the phone seems to lose connection at random times and looks very unstable being raised like that...

Thanks.

Only case I've tried and it wasn't a perfect fit was the Samsung Clear Case. It's barely there, but most Samsung Accessories are not designed to work with cases (just look at the VR headset).

If you want DeX but don't mind not having the dock, you can use a pretty cheap dongle to connect the phone to HDMI, get an USB port (in case you don't have BT keyboard/mouse) and still be able to kick DeX mode in.

I've used this for DeX, but it didn't work with my Tab S Windows tablet.

This one works with everything, even my Switch. My favorite, but a little bit pricier (just a couple bucks).

They both allow you to either mirror the phone or use it in DeX Mode. Just remember, once in DeX, if you don't have a keyboard/mouse connected you won't be able to switch to mirroring.

I use Samsung's Alcantara case with no issies.

I've been thinking about it. How do the buttons feel? I've used a 3rd party single-part case before and the buttons were hard to find and hard to press. On the other hand, the buttons on my current Spigen neo-hybrid feel great.

Does it actually charge the phone though? I've seen some of these (Looks like the same device with a different logo) and the reviews were saying that while it does work with Dex, it does not seem to charge the phone.

I'm loving the feel of the case and buttons. Loved it on my S8+ too. But of course all of that is subjective.

There seems to be a specific sequence that you need to follow (power adapter first, plug in HDMI cable, then plug into phone) but at least those two do charge my Note 8 while mirroring. I haven't used it with DeX as I didn't have a keyboard/mouse handy, but you do get the prompt to either mirror or use DeX as you plug it in.

I do agree that most look like the same, but not sure what's different on the insides. Like I said, one worked with just the phone, the other looks exactly the same but works with my Windows Tab S and the Nintendo Switch.

Oh, and while the first does charge the phone, it doesn't detect Fast Charging, but the second one does.

You should try out the lapdock solution : it may help you to correct the poor design and lack of external ports on the dock, plus you can use it everywhere with a screen, keyboard, pad and more external ports

Asus is developing one for their mobile and maybe for miroring other devices.

However for now, you should look the Mirabook which is basicly the DeX lapdock while charging the phone
