skype and facebook messenger the microphone doesnt seem to be working, if i make a REGULAR phone call all is fine, but i go to record a message in facebook messenger i hold down the button and talk when i release it it did not record anything

voice dialer errors out saying cant initalize, so i can do factory reset but if its a bad OS install that wont fix it will it?

it seems pretty much any voice recorder software doesnt work but actual phone calls work, so im thinking its either a bad android OS install or a permissions issue im on android 4.4.4, i dont think its the phone itself or i would not be able to make actual phone calls

i found out its facebook messenger as soon as i uninstall it and reboot microphone works for skype, google, etc, i even tried like 2 older versions, microphone doesnt work on facebook messenger on this phone the grand x max+, it worked on the grand x max i had before though so no idea what to do because i like using messenger

can anyone else with the grand x max+ install facebook messenger under send a message send a voice clip and tell me if it works? if it works after your done recording there should be a clip for you click on in the message window

Facebook Messenger gave me hope and then stomped it into the ground, there was a new version dated today my issue is still there

I agree 100%, same problem with the same model (Max+) that I picked up for my Mom. While testing and customizing the phone for her I've also noticed that the mic doesn't work for voice to text, which I use almost ALL the time when in messenger, gmail, hangouts texting, or just about anything else that requires keyboard input. It comes up with an error "can't reach google server" or something like that... What a shame, rushing a product to market with issues like this looming, OR poor quality control, this sux... Oh yeah, and the mic doesn't work for hangouts video calls either.... This is just what I've discovered in the first hour of tinkering... Good Grief, this reminds me of the problems CHEAP China phones were/are plagued with that I have toyed with...

I really hope there's a fix for these issues down the road... Or else, it's not really worth the lower price, for a half **[inappropriate language edited by Moderator] phone... Shame shame ZTE...

alex, sadly the mic will work if you remove messenger you can browse to facebook through the browser. remove facebook messenger and the mic for everything else works its not the cheap china phone its a software issue with facebook messenger and this phone
