I couldn't resist a BF deal and got the original MS Surface, but w/the newer Type Cover 2. Not my 1st W8 tablet, so I'm comfortable w/the platform.

So, should I sell my N7? I think my N5 can fill any void, albeit on a smaller screen. I'm not sure how my tablet usage distribution will end up, but I know I don't like devices with resale value sitting around unused.

$169.99 tablet only. I bought the keyboard separately.

If you don't think you'll use it you might as well. If you change your mind you can likely pick up another used one later for cheap. I will say though that I think the original Surface RT tablets are pretty underpowered. At least I wasn't impressed when I messed with one. Unless you only use the tablet for light web browsing, reading email, and the like you'll probably have a better experience with the N7.

I'll wait until it's delivered and I've had both for a week or two before deciding. I've heard different opinions regarding the Surface's performance. Upgrading to 8.1 reportedly improves things. I'll judge for myself.

If it's not a Surface Pro, I would think it would be far less useful (though that depends on your needs) than the Nexus 7, but obviously only you can say whether your have use for your Nexus 7 and should keep or sell it.

It's a Surface RT. I owned an Acer Iconia W510 tablet/hybrid that runs full W8 like the Surface Pro. My experience with that actually opened my eyes to RT.

RT supports GoToMeeting and SonicWall vpn. That's part of the battle for me. We'll see (delivery on Wednesday).

Keep the Nexus and put a different ROM on it or something. Its a very useful piece of kit. Do you have room for 2 tablets in your life?

I think RT could be very useful, and though Microsoft has taken a lot of crap over it, I can see what they're trying to do and respect it. Unfortunately, app availability is still a huge hindrance, though. But if what you really need is available and it meets your needs, then I could see it being a very nice device.

I'm really liking the RT, but my initial thoughts are that I won't be parting w/my N7 anytime soon. Form factor and app availability are primary reasons.

The RT has a place for me, for sure. MS Office and RDC are superior to comparable Android sol's, IMO. I can easily log into my desktop PC and work as though I'm right in front of it. Having HDMI, USB & MicroSD is awesome and expand the possibilities. It plays well w/our Xbox. I can even connect an xbox controller directly and play games out-of-the-box. There's a cool SNES emulator in the app store. No jailbreaking, rooting, etc needed.

For all those keeping score... :-P

I've established distinct use cases for both my RT & N7 and will be keeping both. To think, when the iPad first came out, I thought tablets were stupid and didn't see myself owning one unless I spent a lot of time sitting around, like a frequent traveler or graveyard security guard or something.

Having both, I appreciate each devices strengths and accept the limitations. I also like having regular exposure to both platforms.

I'm going to Hawaii for 2 weeks for the holidays and am actually bringing both devices.

OK, for everyone subscribed :-\ I'm on the brink of putting my N7 on craigslist as it's just been sitting unused in a bedside nightstand for the past few weeks.

My "other" tablet does some things the N7 doesn't (or does them more seamlessly) and replaced it for most other things. For the things for which there's either no direct replacement or a lame substitute, I'll just use my Nexus 5.

Size has come into play a bit, as well, as it's been a better experience for me to view content on a larger screen. And the kickstand. I wonder why Apple, Samsung, etc. didn't think of that. Anyway, we can all write volumes on features and pros/cons. I be back in the Android tablet game, for sure. That new N10 is sounding nice. :)

I think this is your best bet. I was intrigued by Surface tablets at first but my own use case said no to it. I don't do any work related stuff on my tablet but I do a lot of leisure media consumption, and Google Play Store just offers me a much better app selection for entertainment purposes than Windows App Store.
