Bought Nexus 7 off ebay- Questions

Well, yesterday was the first real humid day since I got my Nexus 7 and sure enough, my screen started to show the same symtoms as the other defective screens (the adhesive not sticking properly). Going to call Google today and see what I can do. I hope I can get a replacement.

Since it was a "gifted" Nexus 7 and not bought on the Play Store, they directed me to Asus. Calling them now.

That's actually wrong, and I've been through it personally to know. Google is acting as a manufacturer and are taking warranty issues for the first year. After that Asus takes over for a second year relating to screen issues only. If Google doesn't give you a satisfactory answer Asus will.

The warranty may be dependent on which country the N7 was purchased in:

According to Google website in the US:

"Nexus 7 limited warranty:
The Nexus 7 is manufactured by ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ASUS provides a limited 12 month warranty for the Nexus 7. Please refer to the warranty card in the Nexus 7 packaging or ASUS for details on the ASUS limited warranty."

I don't see any mention of a second year relating to screen issues. Are you located in a country other than the US?

I bought my Nexus 7 from a local classifieds. It has the screen seperation issue and I contacted google and they told me that since I didn't buy it from the play store they won't warranty it. I haven't contacted ASUS yet.

I do live in the US and I called Asus up and they gave me a RMA number to ship it to them where they said it should be serviced or replaced. I just hate to give it up, since I already have everything set up.
