I bought a Note 9 from swappa. I was under the impression that the micro scratches the seller said would really not be noticeable at all. But I do notice them a little when I am in the sunlight.

I thought about returning it as it bugs me a little but I've already grown attached the to the thing and don't want to go through the process of return the buying yet a different one and reloading things

Is there any way to fix little scratches on the screen? I bought an accidental protection for 50 bucks from swappa when i bought it. but wanted to ask first.

my intention is to get a flip cover for the phone to keep the screen as pristine as possible

A screen protector with full adhesive (some of them only have adhesive on the sided on curved screens) will hide most small scratches. (They'll even hide most of a slightly cracked screen.) One that goes on with liquid, like the Whitestone Dome, definitely will (but it's expensive - about $50).

I tried to remove small scratches from a S7 Edge with various compounds/polishes, etc. and it only made it worse. Also tried a buffing wheel and again just made it worse.
I did manage to lessen the scratches but the polishes and buffing wheel seemed to remove a top layer or coating which then left a hazy area (looked awful).
Since the screen was screwed up I decided to experiment further and again everything I tried just made it worse.

Install a glass screen protector and shouldn't notice anything.

Honestly yeah its not too bad at all. I don't notice it most times withotu a protector. I guess it was more of OCD thing. I am getting very attached to the phone. Thought about returning it but with how fresh the phone is, at 490 bucks, maybe not, over 2 very light scratches

That's all that counts , if you happy with it !

Yup, sounds like you got a good deal and you'll mostly forget about the micro-scratches. Plus you may not even be entitled to return the phone under Swappa's terms. The seller was honest about the scratches and you agree that they're usually not noticeable, so the item was as advertised. Enjoy!
