Brand new G3, can't download files in chrome?

I just got a brand new G3 and I was surprised to find chrome was the stock default browser. Anyways, I've attempted to download numerous files via chrome and instead it just opens a new tab, then another new tab, then another new tab. The first time it happened, it opened 70+ tabs before I could figure out how to make it stop.

Has anyone else had this problem and can someone tell me how to fix it?

Thanks,

Aaron

Welcome to Android Central! If you want to download something, try long-pressing the link, rather than tapping it. Long-pressing should give you more options.

Thanks, I'll give that a try next time I need to download something.

I have had problems with chrome aswell. I just use the stock lg browser

I'm pretty sure Chrome is the stock browser on my G3. I cannot find any others. Chrome has also appeared in the bottom launch bar since the first time I've turned the phone on.

For the record. I'm running this device on Verizon. The images on of the G3 on Verizon's website show Chrome where the normal stock browser would be. I'm thinking Verizon chose to forego the stock browser due to all the user complaints.

Today I attempted to download a file in chrome by long pressing as suggested. I still couldn't get the file to download using any of the options. It just kept opening an infinite number of tabs just like before.

Can you give us an example of a file you're trying to download? Maybe I can give it a try. Obviously, give an example that isn't a personal file.

In my attempt to find an example, everything I tried to download, downloaded fine. I guess it's now working. I'll post a link if I come across something else that won't download.

I heard that I could root my G3 with the towelroot app so I attempted to download it and instead new tabs just kept opening. I tried to post the link but, apparently, I'm too new here to do so. I ended up download it on my pc and transferring it to my phone. As it turns out, it was a complete waste of time because towelroot isn't compatible with the Verizon G3.

Anyways, if you could go to towelroot dot com just to see if the app downloads ok on your phone that would be awesome.

Thanks
