Can't even get a full day on my new phone.

Settings/General/Battery. Tap the graph at the top. ok at the mobile signal. If it's not solid green you have a weak signal and it's costing you battery.

Also, the battery may have been sitting on a shelf for months, so go through 3 full charge/discharge cycles before trying to decide if there's anything wrong. (Read The Care and Feeding of Lithium Polymer Batteries for more information.)
