A rooted Inspire is one that you can modify the heck out of, overclock it, get around AT&T's evil lockdowns of this open source OS phone.

Rooting is the reason I have Android.

does it make the phone super fast?

it won't double the speed but my phone is clocked at 1.6 ghz now. linpack and quadrant scores are definitely higher and the phone has a little extra snappiness to it.

They have OC'd kernels now? Are they available in ROM manager?
