breaking DX news

Wow, just switched to Rubix Focused a bit over a week ago, and love it, but this could change the whole game!!

Very true jerseyboy. I buy... I do what I want. If I want to mod it or throw it at a brick wall. That's my choice...just as long as the manufacturer gets their $ they should shove it upstairs! LOL

*update* This will not work as per the person who posted it. Guess its a early april fools joke. It did get moto all worried.

I could see mar 31st but 21st? For an april fool's crack? wow. Well it's another entry into the ongoing battle so to speak. I didn't understand much of what he pasted anyway. I am sure the CM7 team would consider AC one of the places to go to, somehow, however they do, make an official announcement for us. They must keep up on all the threads online and how they deceive or lead on when it comes to dev updates for crowd favorites.

I was so hoping this was legit. Oh well back to my regularly scheduled activities.

Wow. We all got trolled. At least there are some working on a kexec, and I hope they make some progress.

ah crap, seeing moto's response to this "joke" seems to confirm that the bootloader will never be unlocked from them, nor does it seem like anyone will crack it.
Which is better? HTC or Samsung?

That guy is just mean!

ah well...comes with the territory I guess. You can't believe everything you read on the Internet right?

With HTC you likely will have battery issues. With Samsung you'll be lucky to get updates.

In a nut shell, pick your poison.

With a good ROM and kernel, battery life can be fixed.

With a good ROM, OE updates aren't quite as important.

ugh.. what an ******* this guy is.. i was soooo looking forward to cm7
not all of us can run out and buy a tbolt

im running CM7 on mt incredible , and was hoping to get it on my DX , at least there is still the thunderbolt ! just keep waiting.

I guess I just don't see what the big deal about this is, principle aside. The ROMs we've gotten on the X are freakin' dope Liberty, Apex, Rubix, etc. Maybe it's just because I've never tried CM7, but good lord - I'm on RubiX 2.0.1 right now and hitting quadrant scores over 1800 (see rubix thread for screen shot), running stable, and getting 20+ hours on my battery.

The big deal is the kernel. Once you've seen what can be done with a new kernel, you'd realize why people are upset outside of principle.

My Droid runs at twice the clock speed, from 600 MHz stock to 1.2GHz and it gets better battery life. Changing a ROM can do a device good, but ROM and Kernel and it's really a new phone.

I am running rubix as well as while its great if CM7 ever came to the X I would forsure dl it.
Because CM7 nightlies on the dinc are well incredible. Awesum battery life so many setting to cutomize it in the cyanogen settings alone, built in OC'er and custom kernels to many options to list , :D

Steve I thought exactly along these lines until I got a gTab and a NookColor and I was able to see for myself some of the stuff that can be done with a custom kernel.

The GTab specifically has a lot of functionality that is enabled through a custom kernel that simply doesn't exist out of the box. IPv6 for example. Additionally performance tweaks can go to a whole new level.

Trust me, I love rubiX, which is why I post and monitor the mirrored threads for Drod here. But CM7 would get some serious consideration from me on the DX. It's awesome on my NookColor and it's still only nightly.

rubiX is the reason I didn't move to a Dinc and rock CM7...it's made this phone just as good as pretty much anything out there save a few of the new ones like the tbolt.

And I'm still jealous you can hit those kinda quads, I wish my DX would OC past 1056mhz... :/ I barely get 1600 which is still good considering I have a inline 4 and you dumped a v8 in yours :D

I've ran Cyanogen on several phones, most recently a HTC Incredible, and I'm in the same boat with you and fail to see the fuss. The fervor for CM kinda reminds me of the D1 devs who would try to explain ad nauseam that the Pete's (Bugless Beast) hacks are the same hacks that everyone else is using. However, they couldn't' sway the crowd. They were convinced that Pete's ROM was the only true path to salvation. CM does have its perks, most notably the fact that its based off of Gingerbread. There isn't anything going on in CM that Liberty Toolbox doesn't accomplish. but I digress...

I have yet to hear anyone tell me one advantage of hacking a kernel that didnt involve correcting some huge omission or **** up made by the manufacturer. Thankfully, the DX is a pretty bad ass phone - hardware wise. Its the software that needs work. Which is why I would have been anxious to see MIUI on the Droid X. Now THAT, is one bad ass ROM. Its so much more than an extension of stock features, its like an entirely different experience, much like Sense UI is - sans the awful battery life that is associated with them.

If I'm missing something, I'd love to hear it. I would love to hear an explanation that doesn't involve chirping about the amount of people who use it, its popularity, blah blah blah because that only proves my point that its acceptance is just a huge popularity contest.
