Okay so by no means is this absolutely going to work for you; nor am I EXTREMELY knowledgeable of Android, but it did me! I like most of you installed the Clockwork Recovery Mod which bricked my Vortex. I was really bummed and thought of ways of recovery all day long! So I got home tonight and messed with it until I unbricked it! Here it goes:

Boot into Ubuntu on your PC without the Vortex connected

Once Ubuntu is loaded up, remove the battery and the SD Card from the Vortex

Also remove back cover

Plug phone into the USB cable which should be plugged into your computer. At this exact moment Power then press Home and up; or Menu and up, and you should get an image on the screen of it showing you to place the cover back on.

At this time, I inserted the battery and waited...Voila battery charging screen!

Next, I was ballsy and decided to press Power-Home-Volume down. LG logo came up and I released thinking it was a no go.

BOY WAS I WRONG!!!

It booted my phone right up into the working version I previously had "working"!!!

Next, I was really careful and decided it best to reflash the previous Recovery I had that was successfully working, which is located here at this link:

***IMPORTANT: FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THIS SITE COMPLETELY***

After this was done, my phone was no longer Bricked and I had a fresh recovery!

Now this took me a while and was mostly trial and error so GOOD luck!

Feel free to even buy me a beer or help with bus money!!!:)

Thanks again!

i got ubuntu but i cant get my phone to do anything. it just shows lg logo and i did everything it said to do

Ok I magically unbricked my cell phone...I pulled the battery...plugged the charger in...(Without the battery)...put the charger in...pressed the power button, home and the volume up button (And held them all together) and magically it unbricked...I thought I was finished but **** it worked! Just thought I'd pass it along.

My phone turns on, sprint logo flashes, then the word "android" Thats it, 5min go by and it goes black. My computer says it is an unknow device. I cant do anything, how can I load a custom recovery when it is a BRICK!? It is a softWARE issue. I read that I can re-install the O/S froyo 2.2.2. I can not locate this one file - LS679ZVC_11.SC_11.P60674.cab does anyone have a clue?please help - pb5525@live.com

Exactly how long were you holding those buttons down? My friend has a Vortex too that bricked at the LG logo, I told him your instructions and he said that he's had those buttons held down until his fingers become very sore, I tried it and I waited 10 minutes before I gave up... I hope my Vortex doesn't brick, both of us trying to figure this out is giving me a headache... :(

Sprint logo? This is a Verizon phone!

Anyway, can someone describe what is happening in detail?

Those your phone only seems to boot to the silver LG logo and then goes black- but doesn't reboot?
Or does it continuously reboot?

I got this problem too. i dont want to take the whole phone apart and flaash that chip by hand and i don't make enough to get another. dont clockwork mod this phone. use thunderc-vzw

I had the problem. Bad recovery flash, and the phone kept rebooting and showing the LG logo all the time. I tried a bunch of keys, and eventually I noticed that sometimes after power + volume down + home it would stay on the LG logo without rebooting, and I found out that adb worked on it, although adb was too limited. I think I erased the recovery on adb (using erase_image), then I was able to get into fastboot, flash a correct recovery, and the phone us unbricked now.

I recently was on the LG boot loop as well. On my LS670.

1st
Download PC Drivers for your mobile phone if you don't already have them.

2nd
Download KD500. http://http://www.assembla.com/download?filename=LG-Utils.zip

3rd
Use this link and follow the directions exactly. This link will fix the LG server so KD500 will work. [DEV] KDZ Firmware Update Fix - xda-developers

4th ( Replace Model,Cab, and Version with your phones specific's. All can be found via google searches.)

How to fix a bricked phone Steps:

1) Disconnect your Phone from PC, power, and battery

2) Run KP500-Utils-EN.exe

3) Press J

4) Model: LS670
Cab: C:\Users\Kids\Desktop\KD500 LG Optimus s UN BRICKER\LS670ZVD_12.SD_12.P60675 (u can paste this into cmd
prompt)

5) Version: LS670ZVD

6) When LG fails to find your phone, launch "emergency mode". When
E-mode is active and the drivers are installed, press the "restart"
button on the LG update

7) The LG update will fail and say it lost connection with your
phone. The phone will say do not remove power. Remove it anyway. Then plug it back in without touching any buttons and
it should go back to the updating warning.(if there is a % on the screen do not pull the cable)

8) Press restart on LG Updater and enjoy.

Hope this helps :):-$
