Son of a ! Just set my display brightness to zero accidentally. Now the display is totally black!

Any ideas on how to reset the brightness back up when I can't see the screen?

Hold down the power button till it turns off to reset it? Or go in the closet with the light off and see if you can see enough to fix it

Whew, fixed it. If you wipe the glass clean first, while it's locked, you can shine a flashlight at a 45 degree angle onto the screen and see small region.

And a zero brightness setting cannot be seen in pitch black.

I was about to say that so what, 0 means no light but I didn't realize that would make it impossible to see anything haha.

I would say defect because most Nexus7s don't goto black at the lowest brightness because I use mine at 0 and can still just barely see it in sunlight.

The only reason I dropped it to zero is because I do that with my droidx without any problem. But the N7 goes REAL dark!

My Nexus 7 doesn't have this issue. Since I use my Nexus 7 mostly around the house I keep the brightness set to 0 most of the time and the display is plenty bright.

Agreed. I set mine to zero and I could see it with no problem. That isn't normal.

i have a android and a netbook tablet and when i go into a complety dark room no brightness it there what do i do?

I had this with friends tablet. No way to view the screen even with torch. Luckily has hdmi output that is not affected. Plug tablet into hd tv and find the menu on screen to bring the brightness back up.

I tried this (comment #3 ) and it worked well. Thanks! But you really need good eyes for this, otherwise get someone else with good eyes to do for you.

Just tried the closet trick, it worked fine. Interesting that there is a warning message if you set the brightness to maximum, but no warning if you set it to zero.
