brightness settings

I am so confused! I set the brightness level to 65. In the notifications drop down I see the brightness circle. What do the various modes mean? I even looked in the manual and can't find it. I feel like a fool

Modes? Modes? There's just Auto On or Off on mine. What am I missing?

Auto and manual. One adjusts automatically around your preferred percentage and the other just displays that set percentage.

Ok so what I see is the brightness circle is black (off I assume). Touch it once and it shows it lit teal with the left half of the circle filled in. Tap it again and the full circle fills in. Tap it again and this is what I see. I set my level to 65

Ah, looks to be an AT&T thing. I don't have that as an option, only the full brightness slider.

I don't have this option with T-Mobile.

My Sprint LG has this option and how it works for me is ...black is 0% brightness one tap brings you to 50% brightness another tap 100% brightness and then the last tap is your preset brightness(65%) that you selected in the brightness settings screen then the cycle starts over with the next tap. I guess this is Sprints replacement for brightness slider in the drop down window.
