Brightness SUCKS on the S4

Actually auto screen brightness is brighter than manually setting it 100% under the sun.

Err, what's this sun thing you are all talking about?
Sent from my S4, Manchester UK. ;-)

Ha ha ha! I guess for once, it's a benefit to live somewhere where it's raining 90% of the time eh? :)

Okay I searched and couldn't find any other threads on this and I am blown away!
Does no one else have issues with the brightness outside? I had the same issues with my S3. I had an Optimus G in between and it was GREAT outdoors.
I got to the S4 and boom, can't see crap outside in the sun. And yes, I have the brightness bumped up 100%, power saving off AND "Auto Adjust Screen Tone" is disabled as well.

Anyone else think the phone sucks in the bright sun?

I have the S3 and regardless of what I do I still cannot see the screen in sunlight. So I tested many different phones and the winner was the Blackberry Curve 8330 that was the easiest to see in sunlight. But what carrier supports the Blackberry Curve these days? None that I've found. So why have the carriers gotten rid of all the good phones and only offer the bar phones that we can't see the screen on? Is that what they call progress?
