The Epic 4G and the Epic 4G Touch (S2) had the brightness toggle on the notification bar, running your finger from left to right or vice-versa to increase/decrease brightnes when "auto-brightness" is disabled. I might have not done something right but when I disabled the "auto-brightness" on my wife's GS3...this feature isn't working.

Has this function been ommitted on the GS3?

I think it is removed. I tried it on mine when I had it didn't work :(. Was a very useful feature don't know why they would take it out.

Man! Thought no one was going to reply. So many shy folks around. :p

This is a very handy little feature missing....agreed....don't see why Samsung would be compelled to take it off. I'm surprised there isn't more people complaining about it.

I actually found it annoying after accidentally hitting it with my face/ear every time I held it up to my ear for a call!

Started Android with the EVO....lost that, shelled out full price for Epic 4G...still use this as my phone. My wife got the first EVO with me...though she never lost hers. Gave her hell, Sprint gave her an EVO 3D....I just bought her the Galaxy S3 yesterday. When trying to school her on how Touchwiz works....a feature I use multiple times daily....I notice that the brightness toggle is missing from the notification bar.

I was perplexed...so I said...TO THE FORUM! lol...:D

Loved this feature on the Verizon Fascinate I had (OG Galaxy S variant). Auto brightness was usually flaky so just sliding your finger on the notification bar was much easier than trying to navigate through the settings or find the brightness toggle in direct sunlight. Wonder why they didn't carry it over.

hope they incorporate it back into the fold. My wife loved that feature on my Epic 4G...was looking forward to it on her GS3....needless to say...she's disappointed.

Don't bother with an app. This feature has never existed on GS3, but is part of the next firmware update. Europe has gotten it, coming soon to US.

I gotcha, so no pull down, just swipe the bar as is...clever. but not worth another background process for me.

That's pretty neat. Swiping always is. I jail broke my iPad so when I swipe the top left of my bar to the right it skips to the next song, swipe to the left it goes last song and a simple tap plays/pauses. Hold the bar, opens YouTube. Pull down from the top right opens settings. Pull down from the top left opens cydia. It's pretty cool. Which they had an app like this for android
