Broken Screen Replacement Service

I don't know about in your area, but radioshack has a screen replacement service and they're pretty ubiquitous. RadioShack.com

That link looks very advertisey, but it should take you to the screen replacement service page >.<

There are a couple of vendors in my local mall. None of them had parts in stock so it would have been a minimum of three days. And not cheap. Called my local Wireless Zone to see if they had anything old that they were trying to get rid of, and he recommended just getting the insurance and waiting the prerequisite thirty days. It will probably be the longest thirty days of my life, but $175 later and I'll have a DNA, not a crummy device. It ends up working for me because the screen is usable with a screen protector on it.

I've known people who do this for a couple different companies, most of them good friends of mine. I've watched them replace screens, they do it so fast and they don't take care of your parts. I trust myself far more than I trust anybody like those guys replacing my phone screens.

Just my experience, though. Its anecdotal and not representative of the entire population of screen repairmen.

And here lies the reason why insurance is so expensive, people are willing to commit insurance fraud. People believe that this is a reasonable alternative to being honest and paying to repair damage for which they are responsible. Buying insurance after the fact and waiting to file a claim is insurance fraud whether the minimum wage clerk at the store suggested it or not. What is that teaching that pretty little girl in your profile pic? Be an example to your daughter, send the phone to HTC for repair and pay for it yourself.

I appreciate your post, and perhaps I should just return the phone to HTC for repair. However, my daughter's image in my picture is not an invitation for folks to provide parenting advice. My post provides no body of evidence to question my parenting skills and this is a Mobile Nations forum, not a forum on connectedmoms.com. Your point could have been, and has been by you, made without such judgement.

Unfortunately today society does not want to speak up for what is right because of the fear of retribution. I am sure you are a great parent and I mean that. We all can do better by leading by example. We just don't want to be told the obvious especially when we know we are better than that. When you have a conscience, it stings and that is a good thing.

I made the comment as pointed as it may have been, because I know in my own business we could lower our prices by 23% if we could eliminate theft and fraudulent warranty claims. Everyone complains about the high cost of products including insurance but have no problem with stretching the truth to get something for nothing. I will get off my soap box now.

Thanks for the response. I don't have any issue with your stance or think you should get off the soapbox. I didn't take their offer for the insurance without consideration as I could have done the same thing online and didn't; in fact I was surprised he offered it and took it after some discussion. And honestly, I don't mind pointed messages. I'm probably the same way. In any event, it was the "pretty little girl" bit that rankled me a bit. I just can't read it without the voice in my head sounding a bit predatory.

Anyway, I appreciate the adult conversation rather than the bickering that often make browsing forums ugly.

We now return to our regularly scheduled discussion.

bespinct, I apologize that my comment upset you, that certainly was not my intent. Looking at it from a fathers eyes I can appreciate your concerns. Please know the reference was only to evoke an adult conversation about how our choices can often influence little eyes that see and understand more than we realize. I am sure we could sit down and have some great conversations, I respect that and I respect your comments.

Can someone please recommend a company that is good and fast at replacing my phone screen?
Other than the OEM, Carrier or reputable retailers with repair services (e.g. Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc) you can search online and see if the level of difficulty for replacing it yourself with purchased products is do-able.
