My son yanked the charger lead out of my daughters nexus7 and completely mashed up the inside of the USB socket. The tablet was on at the time and had about 50% battery. It was still working when he did it but I tried to plug it back in again and when I found I couldn't I put it into standby while I looked at it. Inside the USB socket it looked like there was bits of plastic which I thought he had somehow managed to get in there but it when it came out it turned out to be the bit inbetween the conecters for the USB. When I tired to reactive the screen again nothing happened and I haven't been able to get it to respond since I have tried holding down power button and every combination of volume and powder buttons I can think off and no response. I know you can replace the USB and headphone port but was wondering since it wont turn on could the USB conecters all touching caused something to short circut and mean it still won't work. I thought it would work untill the power run out
