Browser crash

Anyone else experiencing browser crashes?

For example, Woot® : One Day, One Deal™ has crashed my browser every time I've tried it today. Most of the page loads, then poof!

My co-worker's Droid X works fine. I've tried clearing the cache & cookies, but it still crashes.

Between this and the other issues (GPS, slow email, problems with wifi on our enterprise access points at work) I'm beginning to dislike my Captivate.

Is this a real post- or an attempt to get me to check out your website?

AoN

I REALLY don't think he owns Woot.

Woot's a really popular One Deal A Day website.

Anyways, OP...try restarting your phone? Have you tried running another browser?

Woot loads most of the way and crashes to the homescreen for me too. Maybe turn off JS and see.

Odd, shirt.woot and deals.woot work, but not regular woot. I also have problems with the Seattle Times website crashing. Sometimes it works and other times I have to try multiple times to get the same page loaded. I figured it might have something to d with a particular ad that is running, but I can't be sure.

[edit]
woot.com also crashes Skyfire in both desktop and android modes.

I wish I owned Woot, but last I heard Amazon bought em. Didn't know my link would look so suspicious till I posted it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I tried it on my wife's Captivate and it crashed, too. Like I said, my friends Droid X worked fine; I naively assumed all Android phones running 2.1 had the same browser code & would behave similarly.

I also had an issue on an Engadget article (the one about iPhone chargers dated 8/4 @09:50 pm, if anyone wants to try it).

Guess I'll do some more experimenting before reporting this as a problem. I seem to recall a youtube video review comparing the Captivate to a couple of other phones, and seeing the browser crash in it. Thought it was a fluke; now it looks like another thing to make me suspect Samsung rushed this phone to market.

OK, unchecking the "Enable Plugins" in the browser settings prevents the problem. I see this has already been discussed here, but my search didn't find it.

So how do I see what plugins are installed?

Everything default on my browser on my Captivate and Woot.com loads fine. First time I loaded it, it went back to the browser and then closed out. Loaded it back up everything is fine! I would say just restart the phone.

HTH,
Charlie

I have the same results - but not sure how to get to the plugins list.

I ran the Galaxy S JM5 dev ROM and Woot worked OK, even with plugins on, so maybe a fix is in the works.
