buggy out of no where

My M8 is acting weird. It goes into driving mode when it's plugged in and when it's not plugged in. It will also light up randomly. While it's on charge, I will walk up and its not even charging. When I make a phone call, it speaker turns on. Also, it rotates when it's not supposed to. It's driving me nuts. I have factory reset and wiped cache several times.
I'm assuming it's screwed. And I know nothing about AT&T being a relatively new customer. Are they going to make me pay full price for a replacement or fix? With Alltel it was like 50 dollars.

rogue app? does this behavior persist when no apps installed?

It just started randomly for me, and ended just like that as well. I did update a few apps that we pending, but I can't confirm whether that did it or not. Thankfully I avoided a factory reset and only cleared the cache.

I updated everything and it still goes into driving mode. I'll clear cache agin since I updated all apps and see what happens. And also, when I'm in chrome, sometimes boom sound icon will pop up and will stay on even after I go to the home screen. I have to close the entire application in order for it to go away.
