Built in feature similar to Action Memo

As far as I can tell the only way to send a text is by going through the phone app, menu and then "send message".

^ Samsung Notes only "Links To" phone, email & internet.

Action Memo's "Link to Action" opens the following:

- Phone
- Contacts
- Message (*texts*)
- Internet
- Email
- Map
- Task

It's been a while since I've used the old Action Memo. From a functionality/ feature standpoint what's the difference?

Never mind, I guess I didn't refresh

It also requires you to save, then reopen the app before those three functions work. With Action Memo, all eight of the options are available as you write the info.

I think it's better the way they have it now, in that it can recognize what was entered, but it's too bad they took away some of the other features

Sandra, I noticed something on your screenshot. Are you using Nova Launcher? I’ve gotten Action Memo to work. Unfortunately some items within it like Easy Chart are not working. However, I just noticed your screenshot shows you don’t have the option to pin the Action Memo to your home page. I am missing it, too. I vaguely remember there was an issue pinning Action Memos to the home page if you were using Nova Launcher on the Note 4. I’ve been searching all over to find out if that’s why I can pin it or is it because I downloaded the Action Memo Shortcut. I have a widget on my home page as a work around, but would still love the ability to pin it. Do you know if that’s the issue? Also were you able to get items like Easy Chart to work? Thanks in advance for your help.

Start a new note in Samsung note. Write down a phone number, web address, email address, etc. Save it. You should now see the info outlined in blue if the phone recognizes it. Hover the Spen over it. It should give you option(s) with a little icon and just tap on it. I guess this is Samsung's baked in version of Action Memo.
Thanks for this. Works perfectly for me. Would have gone under my radar without this forum. Much appreciated

Sweet... Muchaz Grassyass!!!

Laugh_1a.jpg ...let's see if I get away with this attempt at Spanish?

Half baked, lol. But thanks for the info. Finally worked for me. Even though I'll probably stick with Action Memo, this might come in handy at some point.

I couldn't get it to work & stopped trying once I got Action Memo to work. However, I just noticed that Fr0gburp3r said to save it first (just save, you don't have to close it, just not be in edit mode), and then the dial, email & web functions will show when you hover the pen over each.

First save:

Then hover (phone dial example):

Thanks for that awesome tip!

Works. Thanks for sharing

OMG, was looking for something else and saw your post - never saw it last month! I'm sorry, and I'm sure you got your answer by now, but just in case...

You're right, it is Nova that prevents pinning Action Memo to the home screen. I think the last time I was able to was my N3, before using Nova.

And no, still no luck with Easy Chart (LOVED that), Idea Sketch, or Photo Note (tho you can "insert" from the gallery or camera, but the image will have a few less editing options available in the S Note).
