Built in screen protector?

I only use a screen protector to protect the screen from scratches, as that will effect resell value. I use the cheap plastic one as they do a great job and don't break the bank.

Re: scratches? Built in screen protector?

Don't know... Something in the bag I was traveling with or something in my pocket.
Yeah, my policy is to only carry the phone in my otherwise-empty front pants pocket, facing inward. But I realize that may not always be practical.

Samsung isn't giving out no free one off's this year.

Last year they sent me 2 S10 plus screen replacements. Free

I called and they said they are working on sorting out 1 free replacement for the note 10 plus.
But as up now they are giving nothing away.

Same here. I let my wife use my Note 10+ for 10 minutes to take some pictures and got it back with the screen protector scratched up. Called Samsung and they told me to take it in to the Samsung repair center. Ordered a Whitestone Dome instead.

I can't even tell the factory one is there; I'll keep it on until it starts getting scratched or coming off, then I'll just take it off and not put anything else on. It's a nice layer of protection with a new device.

"I used whitestone first on my note 8. and to be honest i drop my phone more then any 2 pep put together. and every time i cracked the whitestone glass it also cracked my screen. so i did this probably 5 times on my note 8 then note 9 came out and i repeated this with same outcome. but more but the last 4 months of having my note 9 before i got note 10 plus i didn't use no screen protector. and i still dropped my phone ALOT. but to my surprise my screen never broke. So note 10 will go with out.i wonder if others had same experience."

def not the first time I'm reading similar accounts.

I'm just really not sure why people praise that screen protector so frequently in these forums. Lots of people have issues with the FPS after applying this one, they cost an arm and a leg. I wonder how many here praising these are actually Whitestone employees, or get "sponsored" to promote them.

I agree with the other person reply that dropping a phone with or without a screen protector on and if it cracked the main screen or not is dependent on what it falls on, the height, angle, velocity etc.

You could present a similar argument over cases. Two same phones and same cases and different results can occur from a drop. ;)

A screen protector is in place to stop the screen scuffing up from a fall which could happen if a phone is dropped without a protector and stops scratches as well as protecting the screen from cracking.

I'm not connected in anyway to Whitestone.

I have this on my Note 10+ and have no issues using the fps.
One tip I picked up on is to lightly press where the fps is after the first curing and then second cure.

I prefer the feel of glass over the pre fitted plastic protector and it marks up quite easily.

Theres over 500+ comments in that YouTube video and apart from coming across my comment and what looks to be your comment as it's pretty much word for word to what you've written here I'm not finding a comment stating the Dome can crack a screen.

I still have the built in screen protector on mines and can't even tell its on there. I see no peeling or anything. I usually don't use protectors or even covers on my phones but last year 2 days after buying the Note 9 I dropped the phone while at the pool. Forgot it was wrapped in my towel and it dropped 2 feet on the concrete. The glass cracked on the back and quickly spread to the front as it was over 100 degrees outside that day. I took it right away to Sprint and made up a story saying it cracked while unboxing it. The store let me exchange it for a new phone only if I purchased and let them install their "liquid" screen protector. So aside for the case thats the only protection I had on the screen for the year I owned the phone. Let me definitely confirm the liquid protector didn't protect a damn thing. The Note 9 screen scratched easily. There are noticeable deep scratches all over the screen.
Im curious to see how the Note 10 holds up.

I kept my N9 naked, but I'll keep this preinstalled one on until it bugs me. I may go Whitestone Dome for the first year.

For the person who is worried about the scratches on the preinstalled protector, mine had one within hours - I still have no clue how. I exchanged that unit due to network issues, so I took it off to confirm it was only the protector and it was fine.

When I picked my Note 10+ up from my local Samsung Experience Store in the UK i noticed while unboxing it in store which is something I always do to ensure it has no marks on and it boots up ok out of the box the pre installed screen protector had a scuff mark on it.

Now I appreciate that I'm going to swap the protector out for a Whitestone Dome but I had them swap the phone out as the scuff mark could have been the result of a drop where it was packaged up.

For a £1,100 phone i want it pristine at least out of the box ! Lol.

that's how I carry mine and never had a scratch on my Note 8 or 9

When I carry my phones in a pocket, I always use a flip cover case or my Verizon shell holster case to keep the screen covered. I'll use cases without covers around the house. No scratches thus far.

The Samsung factory screen protector has started to bubble in 2 locations already. Really small, but it is happening.

Mine started to bubble up. I called Samsung Care and they said it's a known issue. They also gave me a repair tkt to take it to Samsung store or a certified repair store and they will replace it for free. Its suppose to be installed via some UV protection or something. I like it. Besides the bubble. It has taken some scratches already and still protects my phone.

Re: scratches? Built in screen protector?

Have any of you had an issue with the built in protector scratching really easily? I have only had my phone less than a week and i noticed a pretty large scratch today...hoping it did not go through it to the screen... anyone had this happen?? Don't want to take it off to see as I don't have a replacement protector.:/
Yes, I got a couple of large scratches on it last week from an undetermined source I assume it's not on the actual glass.

I won't count on it for long-term protection, and it's quite rough around the camera hole, but it was nice not to have to immediately install a screen protector before I could start using my device.
