Bum Unit?

I had a guy come in today with a bad battery. Was complaining about battery life. Battery usage didn't look out of whack (not sure I paid attention to signal time). Threw the battery in the cadex machine and got a Poor reading twice. Gave him a new battery. I'll see what he says tomorrow when I check in with him.

My battery seems fine, with the amount im using this phone(a lot). I got 9 hours yesterday from it.

Im new to android but here are my percentages
Diplay 52
cell standby 16
galaxIr 13
voiecalls 8
phoen idle 4
android system 3
sensorserver_ya 2

7hrs 22min unplugged

I put in a widget stock android widget whcih has display brightness, sync, wifi and other buttons. i turned off sync, will that disable app from getting background data? Im too lazy/inexperienced to go to each prgram individually and manage how quickly to check for updates/new data. I adjusted email and weather, but thats it.

Please someone post a thread on how to manage battery life on the EPic in perticular! I found one for evo, but it was too different because of the differetn apps.

My battery dropped 30% in less than an hour, web browsing and using tapatalk. Installed a couple of apps. Screen brightness around the low3est setting. Nothing cpu intensive.

This can't be right, right?

My epic goes from 0 to 2 bars out of 6 whereas my pre is at 3 out of 5 bars.

7am - 1130am and Im at 70%. The battery life isnt amazing, but its has been proven so many times that a sub 2000Mah battery is just not sufficient for these types of phones. I work mine pretty hard and by the time Im done with the gym ~630pm Im pretty low. Could be an underlying program thats syncing too much. I would say that it could be to battery not being conditioned but Im getting better battery life then that and Im doing about the same stuff on my phone and Im on it all the time. Like this morning I was downloading and configuring alot of different apps and trying them out. As well as the usual email and SMS ( I use my phone as my primary email device).

At 71% with two text messages and checked Seesmic like 3.

Off the charger at 6:30, now @ 11:30.

This is obviously not right.

Voice Calls 49% (29 minutes)
Display 32% (1h 17m 18s)
Cell Standby 12% (Time on 8h 56m 30s, also time without a signal is 59%, huh....)
Phone Idle 3% (4h 4m 30s)
Android System 2% (CPU usage 11m 19s, CPU Foreground 37s)

The EVO was also a terrible power hog. Im getting better battery milage from my Epic but its still not great. I can go 12 hours with moderate handset usage on my Epic and thats about 3 hours better than my EVO. You have to check and see what the heck is running to suck up that much power. Something is for sure.

I'm getting horrible battery life too. Left the office yesterday at 3:30, unplugged the phone and it was dead by 8:30.

My epic just hit the nine hour mark and still 15% battery showing. Just finished playing angry birds beta for about half an hour.

Can we get more stats from Battery Usage? And then maybe a recount of what you did for those 9 hours (roughly and what is syncing/pushing), thanks!

I was testing it today. Had the day off. I fell asleep though. :(.

I don't remember the stats and the phone died completely and I had to plug it in. I know I got 3 hours 15 minutes out of it with 2 bars left. Pretty sure they were 3 hours of heavy use though. Was texting a lot. Browsing the web. 2-3 short youtube videos. Make a 9 minute phone call. Then was messing with fring and made 2 decently long video calls. Continued to text during and after.

After I booted up my phone the last message I got was about 2 hours 15 minutes after I slept. I woke up an hour after that and don't know how long it lasted after that time frame.

Obviously the screen was well into the 60% area. Now I guess I except that from that use; but, the other day my phone was on standby for the most part and it died pretty quick I still had one bar left after about 9 hours; but, thought that was very low figuring the phone was in standby most of the time. I'm going to have to check it out tomorrow and see at work how it goes again.

Deff would like a extended battery if this is normal life.

You know what I think this is right. Heavy use of just texting with a 1400mah batter wouldn't last me through 9 hours. Add in the screen. I think this deff needs a 2400mah batter plus.

Do they make any yet?

I've been on my epic solid for 3 hrs playing angry birds, browsing market, downloading apps, played paper toss till everything went black, surfed the web a bit, took a couple of pics, sms, mms, email, tinkering in general. Started at 100% and am at 48% right now.

Not great but better than I expected.

7 hours 21 minutes:

Screen: 71%
Idle: 6%
Standby: 10%
System: 4%
OS: 2%
Swype: 2%
Browser: 2%

It didn't register the nes emulator I booted up for a few minuts a couple of times and never registers youtube videos.

Screen is on auto brightness and powersave. I thought this screen was supposed to be better on battery than most. What's the lowest we can get screen % to?

Also, the auto brightness wasn't that bright; when I went out in the sunlight had some difficulty seeing the screen. Hmm. That's not bad though I guess.

Been going for 24 hours plus right now with juice defender and task killer running. Watched about 25 mins of youtube,50 text messages, downloaded a few apps, bowsed on tapatalk, read the news for about 30 mins, messed with settings and proabably some other stuff i don't remeber. I got the battery icon blinking now trying to run it down and see how much longer it will last

Problem with Juice Defender is it logs me out of Google Talk and doesn't push my email while its doing its job.

The culprit is people with weak 3g service. I made it the whole day with good service but when I'm home and at work I get lousy reception thus creating a drain.

The polling settings are at the stock setting for optimal battery life (2, where 1 polls more and 0 even more yet yielding poorer battery conditions). I changed the ACCOLO setting from 0 to 2, I don't expect it to do much since its only a network priority setting.

Juice defender hasn't been very reliable for me. Just returned the pro version. I might rebuy it if I can get the free one to work properly with wifi and tethering.

Battery life has been pretty terrible for me so far. Using my bluetooth headphones is particularly draining, even compared to the pre.
