But How Is The Camera...?

Everything about the Note 3: from the faux leather back, larger full HD display, all the new S-Pen features, etc. are so appealing. It surprised me that Samsung just glossed over the camera during the presentation though, and it worries me a tad. I hope this thing can capture some great pictures and videos, and it'll be cool to try out the 4K recording. Here's to hoping we get camera samples soon...

13MP with OIS, what is there to complain about. I can already hear the whiners from the iClub saying theirs is better. Well for me, my DSLR is better than any camera phone so who cares. It's what I chose to use and my phone is bigger, better and badder.

I was snooping around the S4 forum, and they have taken some sweet pictures with that device. I expect the same with the Note 3.

And if ya want to burn your retinas out (or squint a lot), go look at pictures people are taking with the Moto X/Droid. 'Nuff said.

It doesn't sound like it has optical image stabilization, just a software for compensation since OIS won't be available until next year from Samsung (from earlier reports).

It doesn't have OIS.

I have seen it mentioned it has OIS, but that was in reference to the video camera so perhaps it doesn't for the stills.

Considering the S3, Note 2 and the S4 have great cameras...I expect nothing less, and a little improved.

It has software stabilization, which isn't the same thing.

Fair enough, but I can take solid enough pics without it so I am not too concerned.

Yeah. OIS is good for very specific situations, like low light or when you're moving. In normal situations there won't be much of a difference.

I have a GS4... my only criticism of the camera is that most shots look over saturated to me. Akin to looking at a row of display TVs at Bestbuy. While not that dramatic, I think Samsung renders the pictures with a little too much "pop".

Some people like that vibrant look. I will confess that I use the saturation/vibrance slider in Lightroom at times. ;)

The S3/S4 take average photos. In bright light much better shots.

However, it will suffice :)
