buttons don't lite...apps very slow using battery

Yeah mine will light up, but it seems very sporadic. When I am in the dark a lot of times they won't light up, but they do when it is light outside.

I've had this problem with the original Droid and now on the X. Sometimes, locking and unlocking as well as placing the front of the phone up to a light source, counter-intuitive, solves the issue.
