buttons not responding but touch screen works

My phone, my touch 4g updated apps and the screen went dark,after taking battery out and restarting phone the buttons would not respond, no back button home ...etc...nothing. But when you use the touch screen it worked ok just cannot go back or to home or any button. The phone still works makes phone calls and ect... just no response from pressing any button. I reset phone and still no button response. Phone even boots up with a different type screen on start up.I even looked for updates by using the touch screen and says no updates avaliable and phone is up to date. I really like this phone but is pretty much useless without the buttons to use........Any help would be appriciated......thanks ch

I have the same problem, just the trackpad and power button works. I have tried rooting and flashing different roms. I bought a MT4G with dead motherboard, put my board in it and nothing but the same thing. The way I get around using the buttons is with an app called "button savior", but you need to be rooted. The funny thing is my volume buttons work when installing the roms but not in the OS. Let me know if you found a way to fix it.
