Buying devices from Samsung.com

I have used Samsung's website many times in the past. It seems like they always had some really good deals, particularly on their refurbished devices.

They used to occasionally have KILLER deals for limited times, obviously. I remember about two years ago, you could trade in a device, for example, and get like an S20+ for only 300 dollars. Might have been the entire S20 line, not entirely sure. This is just an example.

I had a Galaxy Note 10+ for the longest time that I had purchased this way and man, it was such a great device.

That said, it seems like in recent years, deals of the like have gone down quite a bit. I can trade in my S21 Ultra and get a new S24 Ultra, and it will still cost me nearly 1000 dollars.

If you look at their current refurbished lineup, they are selling S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra devices. You would think these would be considerably cheaper... But they're not! I was lucky enough to trade in the Note 10+ about 10 months ago for my wife and purchased an S22 Ultra for her that only came out to around 500 bucks.

It seems like they only seem to be interested in pushing their newer devices, compared to before.

Anyone else noticed this?

Inflation also plays a part. Devices didn't cost as much as they do now (to make) and since prices to consumer have largely remained the same for their flagships, the profit they can make off of them has definitely gone down. Ergo, less killer deals. You will still find those on big holidays or upon new model launches, but I agree, nowhere near what they used to be.

Really sucks! I'm okay buying a model of a device that is a few years older if it's a better deal honestly.

If I can get an S24 Ultra for 700 dollars, and an S23 Ultra for 400-500... I'm gonna go with the S23 Ultra, for example.

Samsung isn't the only one like Apple you can't buy a iPhone 15 when the new models are available and Google you can only get last version of pixels like the 8 series, but if you go through carriers website you probably can purchase older models

The thing is, I have T-Mobile prepaid, so that's not really as applicable in my situation.

And I prefer using factory unlocked devices.

I believe prepaid they have a list of older phones also so look into that
