Also, watching video in landscape sucks with a notch. I had the iPhone X for 10 months and it just irritated me.

LOL... Indeed it is. One would think with the number people with self-diagnosed OCD, the notch would be a major no-go. It actually bothered me while watching the Apple announcement and to my knowledge I do not suffer from OCD.

I guess most OCD triggers are highly selective.

decision is much harder now without the free akg headphone promo. xs max has imessage, clearer picture quality, more quality apps compatible.
note 9 has way better everything else..just less incentive now to purchase due to no quality headphones. dont really care for the free dual qi charger i use my phone all night.

Sounds like you should get the iPhone. Based on the fact that free headphones are even a factor in the decision, I'm not sure the Note 9 is what you are looking for. I would choose the phone and then find the best deal for that phone rather than base the phone choice on what someone gives for free. If Apples ecosystem is more important to you than everything the Note offers then get the iPhone. Good luck with your choice.

I don't know, I have the 512GB Note 9 but the older I get the less I care about customizing stuff and dealing with all these notifications about all kinds of crap on Android. I kinda miss my iPhone X. Also, messaging on Android is still a complete mess.

For the most part it's the same. But iMessage is definitely better. It is encrypted end to end. Allows full res videos to be sent as well as much larger files. But it only works within the apple system. Android has apps that do this as well but its seamless with iMessage.

For me for the first time I have no interest in the new iPhones. My wife who was a diehard iPhone person also refuses to upgrade to a iPhone. She instead had me get her the note 9. But to each their own. Plenty of devices for everyone's needs that's for sure.

Go look at what the first Samsung SSD was when they came out ~$US1,500.

Obviously the prices dropped, SSDs came out in faster models, size, SSD II, III and now UFS 3.

1980s and 5 and 10MB in plus $1,000. Or when 100MB dropped from $1,000 to $300 range.
Lots of other examples of tech pricing.

Question is, why 512GB is essential. Yes, higher capacity translates into higher performance, and 8GB RAM.

This is simply ABSURD!!!! For Apple or any manufacturer to believe a PHONE is worth almost $2000 is crazy! No phone is worth that amount of money

I think prices are going up like this because Apple knows people will finance them instead. So $50-60 is reasonable for people to pay monthly. I bought my Note 9, 512gb cash, but that hurt. I won't be doing that again probably for my next phone.

Yeah that kind of softens the blow, I'm part of the yearly apple upgrade program and used to pay $56 for iPhone X and now going to pay $68 for Xs Max 512 GB. But still it's kind of crazy how much prizes have increased.

I agree, @donm527 ... I can't think of anything in the Android world that competes with iPads.

Tab S3, Tab S4, every single Note phone plus the Note tablets. Didn't take me long to think of these few, I'm sure that there are dozens if not hundreds more....

Next year when Samsung (and Apple) start using USF3 and LPDDR5 (Samsung memory and storage) maybe they're paving the way, it won't feel as bad?

Those two changes in hardware will reduce a currently perceived bottle neck - don't want those GPU/CPU waiting to be fed - with double today's RAM and storage.
