Calendar alarm notification?

The alarm/notification for my calendar events on my Pixel 2 is only going off/alerting me 50% of the time. When it doesn't go off I check the sound volume of the alarm and everything else and it is fine.

Any ideas? Any recommendations of things I need to change in my Settings?

Are these calendar events that you created, or ones that someone else sent you?
Are you sure that you have the alarm notification selected for all of them? I've seen times where the default notification is an email vs the alarm.

They are events I create (ie. I set a daily event as my alarm to wake me up in the morning, and it is a reoccurring event, I don't reset one each day), some days the alarm/notification goes off, some days not.

Unfortunately I don't use the Calendar for reoccurring alarms - I use the Clock app for that and haven't come across an issue where it doesn't ring the alarm at the appropriate time.
I do use the Calendar for various appointments and haven't had a problem with the alarm failing to go off (unless I forget and leave the dumb 'email notification' turned on instead).
