I have two calendars (my calendar and google calendar). For some reason, it always defaults to my calendar. I had the droid x and a my calendar didn't even exist, just a google calendar. I basically either want to remove the my calendar or make google calendar the default for all new events. Has anyone else ran into this and can anyone help out?

You can open up settings in the calendar app and then click on calendars and turn My Calendar off.

I unchecked "my calendar" like you mentioned, but the issue still exists. When I go to create a new event, "my calendar" is still set to default.

I have the same problem. Whenever I make a new event, it defaults to placing it on "my calendar". The problem is that "my calendar" does not sync to my Google calendar on-line. So, whenever I make a new calendar event, I have to make sure that I check off the box for putting it on my Google account on-line. That's the only way to make sure events I create on my Epic will sync with Googe calendar on-line. Just unchecking "my calendar" from the setup only removes that calendar from being displayed.

I consder this a design flaw on the part of Sprint/Samsung.

We need to find a way to pick a different default calendar when creating events.

How can you consider this Sprint/Samsungs fault? The OP has a device that is neither on Sprint or is a Samsung. If anything, it's an android issue, as that is the only thing in common here.

SPH-D700 = Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint

What you need is the GoogleCalendar.apk. The X uses a calendar called "BlurCalendar.apk", the Epic uses "TouchWizCalendar.apk", and the EVO has their own too. The Epic calendar, should but doesn't, allow you to change the default setting in the new appointment pulldown. The X defaults to Gmail, the Epic defaults to My Calendar for new events. Unfortunately it will take a custom ROM to get your hands on the GoogleCalendar app.

Yeah, I really don't feel like rooting my phone (not yet anyway). But now I know what needs to be done. Thank you all for the help. Hopefully a simple update to samsung's line of apps t 2.2 will add this option.

And yes I do have the Epic, lol.

I'm finding the Epic Calendar app kinda sucks. To be more specific, it contains only very basic functionality, and doesn't interpret some recurring events properly.

I work 3rd shift, every other week. I want this schedule to occur every night from Monday night to Sunday night every other week. It shows up properly in Google Calendar, but the Epic calendar app keeps interpreting the schedule as occurring Sunday through Saturday.

The Epic calendar doesn't even show every nth time interval as an option. Soemthing can be daily, weekly, monthly, yearly - but cannot be every other week, or every 3rd week, like one can do in Google Calendar, or the Palm Pre, or Outlook....or most other calendars.

Anyone else having this problem?

You can use calendroid from the market it give weeks optins and it free. I needed every other week schedule and after searching for 2 days this is the best thing so far.. it doesn't intergrate with google calender though (I don't think)

The default for the calender events will always be on "My Calender" that's how it is on the intrcept as well and there is no option to make google calender the default.
