Calendar EAS Recurring Appointments Bug

Having a problem editing recurring appointments synced with EAS (exchange 2003). It appears that every recurring appointment comes over as a 'custom' recurrence and does not let me choose to edit a single instance of the event. It will only let me adjust the entire series... I tried changing the appointment to 'every tuesday' on the hero but it still will not let me edit a single instance.. anyone have any ideas ??
