Did it a second time like ceriem and it completed. Took about 2 minutes or so.
Screen did not go to sleep either. Make sure you are looking at a compass, not an animation of a phone rotating. If you see a phone rotating, hit the calibrate button in the bottom right corner.
I've tried many times in and out of the house (way from any metal objects) and can only get the compass to turn red, never green.
Its probably a sick joke...!.. Think about it... picture all of us idiots sitting on the couch, twirling this phone around pausing every now and again to see if the phone is green... We look like a bunch of mental patients...
I lol'dEven better, the phone's video camera probably clandestinely activates during the calibration sequence, records us all looking like idiots, and then secretly uploads the video to Google's offices where they can all have nice laughs at our expenses. Pretty soon, they'll being posting montages on YouTube.
As for the actual calibration, it took me twice to get it done. The funny thing, though, is that the second time I had given up... and then the screen turned green and said it was complete. Bizarre.
Does this compass have a setting for course direction or bearing direction?
Has anyone else noticed that the compass is off by a few degrees or is it just mine, I did the calibration and it turned green but it didn't seem to fix it.
