Hi my note 5 isn't even 2 months old yet. But i am having this weird problem with my battery.
Basically every time my battery gets below 10% or less say at 7 or 8% it dies quickly. Sometimes it would jump straight down to 1% from 7% and then the phone will turn off and when i connect the charger it will show it has 5% battery in it :/. Some times like last night it won't jumo straight to 1% but within seconds from 8% it will go 7.. 6..5..3..2.1.. literly in seconds and wen i plug the charger at 1 it will jump bck to 6%.

Will factory resetting the device help?
I must add that it onky happens wen battery is low. Other than that it works perfectly fine. So my problem is that for a device thats not even 2 months old yet i am only getting 93-94% battery life. Wen it gets below 10 it can die anytime.
Thanks.

Well what i would advise you to do is reinstall os through samsung kies. After that drain the battery all the way till the phone switches off. Then recharge battery while phone remains switched off. Then do a full battery drain and charge again but with phone on this time. If this doesnt fix things then you have a faulty battery

Thanks a lot
I am going to try that and hopefully its not the battery thats faulty.

How quickly is it draining down to 10% from 100? When batteries get that low, weird things happen in my experience.

From 100 to 10 is absolutely fine no complains there. It depends on my usage really. But i dnt see any extra drains or anything it works fine. The problem only happens when its low under 8% or so.

Did you do what i told you to do? Donwload samsung kies and install fresh firmware. After that drain battery till phone is dead. Then switch it on and drain again till it dies without charging. After it dies again charge phone while it is switched off. Then drain battery again till it dies and charge normal after that.

If your battery is fine from 100% to 10%, just don't let it drain below 10%. There are differing opinions about draining Lithium ion batteries until your device shuts off and the possible damage or reduced longevity due to draining to 0%. I would suggest researching before draining til dead (no offense dieselhaza).

Yes it works fine from 100 to lets say about 8%. I dont normally let it drain below that but sometimes when i am out and about it can happen. And for a top end device which is only 1 n half months old i should be getting full100% battery thats y i am not happy with it. But ur right we shouldn't let it drain untill it shuts off. But some batteries do get calibration issues and doing tht(dieselhaza method) once in a while fixes that.

Omg I'm having this issue as well but if you drain your battery to zero a couple of times it should fix it but then after a few cycles it comes back with .Its a software glitch I believe since I still get between 4 to 6 hours of SOT

Oh im glad then that its not a faulty battery and just a software glitch. You think it should get fixed with the nxt update

Most likely I hope in my experience the phone would drain from 5 to 0 in a minute and then when I put my phone on the charger it would show 5% on the battery indicator so then I turned the phone on and it drain from 5 to 0 normally but now I keep my phone from getting so low since it's not heathly for lithium ion battery's

Yup thats exactly whats happening to mine too. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Well guys im not saying drain your battery to 0% every time. All im saying do it on two occasions to recalibrate the battery. Im not saying it to destroy your battery. Look at my idea and intention. If its a software glitch it should affect alot of people. Then what i advise for you to do would be firstly try fresh install using samsung kies. Delete everything on the phone make sure its a clean install. It could be a corrupted os. Otherwise if it was software glitch it would have affected more people and besides that it would have been patched up by now.

YMMV... but I NEVER let my Note 5 drain below 15 to 20%. Usually fast charge when it gets down to 40%.

As mentioned, weird things can happen to nearly fully drained batteries so why stress it and allow it to drain bear zero.

Again... you asked, it's your phone but with fast charge, just do it!

Did you try what i told you to do? If you have and still the same go and swap device

Just an update on this. I did the calibration method as u advised but without installing the fresh os as i have no access to a pc or a laptop these days. But i did recalibrate the battery using ur method and im glad its fixed now. I dnt let the battery drain below 10 now anyway but a few times it has gone below tht after iv done tht method its working fine.
Thanks for the help ..much appreciated
I read smewhere else tht someone else had this problem too and doing this method fixes the issue for a few days so let's see what hapoens next but so far so good.
I really dint wanna go thru the process of replacing the fone cz i bought it in Pakistan and im in UK now and theres no note 5 here as of yet. So it wudav been a lengthy process but im glad its fixed now.

My 2 cents, from what I understand letting a Li-ion battery get below 20% is very hard on it. If it happens a couple of times I'm pretty sure it's not an issue but repeatedly it can affect battery life.

You might be right but the battery has a safety cut off feature. Before it gets to the dangerous zone the phone would switch itself. The phone showing 0% does not mean the battery is fully drained. All it means the safe usable amount has been used up. Then again it would be a good practice to not drop below 10% to 15%
