Call Recorder Not Working After Oreo Update

My husband and I were using a call recorder app that worked absolutely perfect (Recorded BOTH sides of the conversation flawlessly without using speaker only) on our old but goodies, Note 4's! Then we both upgraded to the Note 8 which were prior to Oreo, and it stopped working properly on the Note 8.... only recorded our side of the call. Since then I have tried about 5 different apps and none record BOTH sides. I also emailed the Dev on the app we loved, twice and NO Response at all!! It must be an issue with the Phone!

As far as the (Recorder by Skvalex) $9.99 seems really steep for an app like that. Don't get me wrong.... I have paid for many apps I like and I fully support all the work the Dev's put into developing.....
If it seems steep, use something cheaper. If you can't find anything cheaper that works as well - maybe it's not so steep.

I purchased it because it worked better than anything else I tried. That was before Oreo. After Oreo, it has been a mixed bag. I know the dev is working on it, because it's been updated at least 2 times since Oreo. Actually, since the last update, I don't think I have missed any recordings - so maybe he has it sorted out finally. Oreo seems to be giving these call recording devs a struggle.

I've been using Call Recorder by SKVALEX on Oreo after ACR stopped recording both sides. It's worked on every call for me so far.

Oreo Update

I up dated this morning and Oreos will not let me record no phone calls. I even tried different apps. What's up with that? Can someone please help!

I am using Call Recorder version 3.0 beta06.1 and Oreo is updated with April Security patch.

I don't really check my calls but nice to have... I just checked my most recent captures from this past Friday and no problems with any of them, recorded both sides of conversation and if I have to say playing on speakerphone the playback is the loudest and clearest I can recall since using this app.

So just giving an FYI to show I don't think it's a common issue. Also, I'm on AT&T if possibly that makes a difference. Uninstall and reinstall the app. The current version of Call Recorder app was updated two days ago.

Hi Guys,

Was actually searching for some answers pertaining the same issues and found out from a report that the problems or faults for not able to record calls were not on the app developers or Oreo itself. It's due to Samsung phone's "defect" components (if you uses Samsung devices especially S8, S8+, Note 8, S9, S9+...), and also individual countries law and regulations that many of them have started making call recording unavailable.

Below is what I clipped out from the report...

"... IMPORTANT NOTE: Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy Note8/S9/S9+ don’t allow call recording in Europe / Korea / India / Singapore / UK markets. We do seriously apologize."

Go to setup menu》appplications》Call recorder》permissions and see that all permissions are active (contacts, memory, telefone and microphone) if this does not help go for another App. The one that worked fine with me after updating my Note 8 to Android 8.0 was Automatic Call Recorder from Appliqato, I am using the free Version for now, if everything goes fine I Will get the paid version.

But voice recorder can do this recording if you use speakerphone, how Samsung can prevent Call recording in this case (Europe / Korea / India / Singapore/UK)?

I'm a reporter so it's VERY important that I record interviews so as to have accurate quotes in my stories-- I've had Total Recall for over a year now, and it has just started getting buggy over the past month or so (not recording the person I'm talking to--just my voice--or not recording at all--oddly enough, soon after the Oreo update).

I tried downloading Total Recall for S9--same thing (I have an S8 Plus).

I finally uninstalled and then reinstalled Total Recall v.2.0.73m and it seems back to its old self-- recording like when I first installed it a year ago.

Hopefully the fixes last, because it was very embarrassing calling my contacts and needing to 're-do' the interview because my recording program wasn't working.

On edit- it recorded my first call without issue--

But by the second and third calls, it was back to its old tricks (recording my voice alone)--

I changed the 'recording strategy' to 'Voice Call (Legacy)' and it started working again--

I'll update you as to whether or not this 'fix' continues to work.

Thanks, Ed!! This call recorder works on my Note 8. Much appreciated man.

I am probably way late to the game, but just want to say thanks to @onthehunt. I have had this problem forever and seeing this thread solved the problem. Automatic Call Recorder by Appliqato works. I tried about 7 apps prior to this and just had to live with half of the conversation. Thx again! And thank you Ed for this solution! (My phone - Note 8)

Also, thanks to Ibrahim! Man, I ain't good at this forum stuff, just felt the need to say thanks to everybody and let everybody know these posts help.

Can anyone confirm if Call Recorder by Skvalex still works fine on Oreo on the Note 8? I still haven't updated to Oreo yet and want to make sure this app works on Oreo before I update, if/when I do. I did see the post above from April that it works, just want to make sure it still does.

I've been using it since I got the phone and never had any issues before and after Oreo but I can confirm it works. I'm on AT&T so not sure if people that have issues with call recorder apps maybe can be carrier related?

I had a business call a week or two ago with Comcast business (they suck)... and was able to test it by playing back the conversation to my co-workers. They were really impressed how clear the conversation was on both sides.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm on Verizon. I wouldn't think that would matter but you never know.

I can also confirm that Skvalex Call Recorder (payed edition) works fine on Oreo. My phone is an international version and not used in US.

In the construction business and use a call recorder for various reasons, which has worked great. After the Oreo update, the call recorder only captures my voice and not the other person's voice. I've tried several call recorders, tweaked the settings, etc. and none of apps record the other voice. Anyone using a call recorder that is working after the update? Thanks.

Galaxy S7 edge Anroid 8 oreo - Total recall version 2.0.74 here .. Same issues. Have been going back and forth with the developer for 3 months now and have finally abandoned ship and installed ACR 5 days ago which has been working flawlessly so far.

Best thing to do with this one is to go to applications - remove app, then install ACR as you suggest.
After three months of going back and forth with totally useless total recall that is what I did. Its too bad it used to be a great program .. oh yeh and if you paid them money as I did ask for it back!
