Hello All,

So now that Pie has made this more difficult, what apps have you gotten to work (if you need to record calls)?

A related question is that Samsung One UI is supposed to have this option under the call app and settings.

On my unlocked Verizon phone, this option is not there. It was not there in Oreo, either. Anyone have it?

Thanks,
R

I'm on unlocked version no call record, and they took out extra loud buton on calls.

I ended up installing Cube ACR which kind of works, but it is expensive if you want the pro features... and it works a lot better if you use the speakerphone for calls.

For calls I need to record I am shifting to Skype where I pay for the ability to dial out to regular phone lines. I don’t need video record and I found a good free solution that works well.

I think Googles attempt to control this recording stuff is misplaced. I know it can be misused, but there are laws in the US that address this.

I've been using Automatic Call Recorder for years. It still works except for a recent update the app no longer accesses my contacts. Think this was a Google change. For calls I want to save I have to manually map them to a contact and then they're moved to a saved folder.

I've been using Call Recorder App by SKVALEX since I got the Note 8 from preorder. Worked every since through Oreo and Pie.

Just realized the app I've been using has been only recording one side of the conversation. Read the reviews on the app you mentioned. Same thing. Thanks Google

The App I use only recording one side?? Nope, mine records both sides just fine. Always has.

Oh and as far as your issue with Automatic Call Recorder and contacts... That's probably a Google thing and their policy of not allowing to access Caller ID in the app or something like that.

Cool thing about SKVALEX? I emailed him hating the new change and he emailed me back within the hour literally to give me a fix and all is good ??????

Maybe if you contact your developer, they will do the same for you.

Please share the fix so we don't all have to bug the developer. I am only getting 1-sided recording with Skvalex.

I can't remember if the version from xda, or the one from the dev's site are the same, but it does record both sides AND does pull your contact associated w/the number (despite google).

The first xda link is to the app/dev info, the second is to the associate topic where everything is explained (I would start at the end and work back for the details on which version - it's been a topic for some time).

Just know the laws in each state with call recording.
You alone with your phone can record your conversation.
You cannot use your phone and then hand it to someone else to use your phone to record a conversation.
If you do, you must notify the person they are being recorded. If you don't this is a form of wire tapping.
Just be careful.

A lot of carriers according to your State, disable call recording.
It may work for awhile, but later it will stop.
It may only record your voice and not the other person.
Just some FYI.

The fix was that he emailed me a link to his site with the unrestricted version of his app. You side load it. Email him since I don't know if he wants the link published. Otherwise I guess people are making it available through XDA post?

It most definitely was a Google change in policy that required vendors to remove the required functionality.
First, go to the play store and tell it you don't want automatic updates anymore. You don't need Google carrying out any more of their terrorist activity on your phone.
Second, you need to download automatic-call-recorder-5-53.apk. This is the one just prior to Google's policy destroying it.
Third of course you need to side-load it.
Results: Everything will come back as it was, including the Pro version recordings. The Pro version is simply a key that enables the Pro changes in the Free version.
And another thing: If you get a new phone, get one you can root or an older one that won't get updates to Pie. Otherwise Google will carry out their terrorist activities through operating system updates. Starting with Android 9/Pie, they block your ability to record your phone calls.
