Call screening issues

When call screening got updated a while back, I turned it on for all options.

It was working great at catching spam calls.

Lately however I've been missing a lot of calls from potential job opportunities because they think they have the wrong number when the Google response comes up.

I tried turning off the option for "new numbers" and allow them through. Once I did that though the spam calls started getting through again like crazy.

I'm at a loss what to do now. I wish there was a way to program the Google assistant to tell the caller they are screening for "insert my name". This way people would know they have the right number.

Any ideas?

Maybe the Spam/"Automatically screen. Decline robocalls." is an option? Based upon the support article below, maybe enabling the "Automatically screen" along with the "Save Call Screen audio" will help? I also have had a similar concern as you, missing legitimate calls. The spam calls have been quite bad this year, and that is one reason I have been primarily using the Pixel 3.

There are a few good third party apps on the playstore which you may like, and do what you want.
They seem to work better on some handsets than others ,or I would recommend mine.
