I have recently learned that by using apps such as Hiya and Truecaller , that my contacts have been uploaded to their databases. Are there any free or inexpensive callerid apps that do not do this ?

At this point it's too late. Even if you change service, those contacts are still stored on their servers.

I opened up Mr. Number today and I got a popup saying that Hiya is going to a premium service for complete caller ID and call blocking of spam and potential fraud numbers. Is this worth it? Or just continue with the free app? Maybe that's why the phone still rings with the strange number then I have swipe left to hang up on it, then go over to the app to block it. The premium service might not let the phone even ring with the spam number.

I stopped using hiya, which I have used for years and Mr Number before that with my old BlackBerry Z10. I'm now using YouMail for Spam protection. not really a Caller ID but so far it has worked for telemarketers
