So I had an upgrade and decided to give my wife my Bionic, and get the Gnex. Love it so far. Pretty much as is. I've already unlocked, and rooted it with ease. I am not looking through ROMS. I used to use Eclipse on my BiONIC, and I loved it. Is there anything close to that anyone could recommend. I know it's been asked before, but I am looking for something close the Eclipse, or something not too far from stock, but just some things fixed, and/or added to make it better.

One thing I don't like is all the wasted space the stock launcher leaves. I tried using GO Launcher EX which was my go to launcher for the past couple years, but it ran real buggy, and laggy on the Gnex. So I went back to stock. It's so damn fast, but didn't nearly have the customization of other launchers. Does anyone know how well ADWLaucher EX, or Launcher Pro work on this phone. I appreciate everyone and anyone's help on this matter. Android-4-life. ;)

First off they are a ton of Roms to select from for the GN so Im sure you will find one you like .
Well If you want to run a pretty much stock Rom as far as looks goes there is Bugless Beast.
If you want to run a Rom a with lots of customizations there is Crossbreed M2.(Patient Zero version of Crossbreed if your into flashing alot)
Also ,,CodeName,or AOKP are a couple more Roms with more customizations .
I havent had a bionic so I am not familar with Eclipse so not sure how they compair with it.

I use the Nova launcher It has a free and paid version . I am using the paid version and it functions great for me.
There is an Apex launcher I think its free to.I didnt like it as good as Nova but thats just my view ha.
I have use ADW but not on the Nexus so others who have will have to answer that .

I had used Launcher Pro for awhile when I first got my Nexus but wanted to try something newer since Launcher Pro hasnt been updated in 4ever.
I think Nova Prime launcher is pretty much to the new "Launcher Pro" for me .

Davidnc is right regarding ROM's suggestions.

On launchers, you'd be very happy with nova or apex. Both are based on the stock ICS launcher but just with many many more options, and you can get rid of that Google search bar and use all the space. Used to use nova for months, recently switched to apex on a suggestion to try it out and I find it to be even smoother, but they are both very similar. Apex also has gesture support in the free version where I believe you only get that in the paid version of nova.

So I went with Apex. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you guys. I didn't change the ROM yet. Since the rumors of 4.0.5 is coming in April. I do hope it fixes the antenna. I get pretty poor cell signal on this phone compared to my Bionic, or my Droid-X. So I am thinking its a software thing that needs to be updated. Hope they do it soon. Does anyone know of any fix for that in the meantime? Thanks again for all your help. Love this site/forums. Everyone here knows their $hit, and is happy to spread their known $hit around whenever needed. ;-)

Everyone have a great weekend.

Assuming you've unlocked and rooted.. you can upgrade your radios now. All of them available are found here: [RADIOS][Galaxy Nexus] All available radios/basebands - RootzWiki

I keep myself on whatever the newest ones are.. and most people are happy with the 4.0.4 ones. Though, I have to say you are comparing a Samsung phone to two motorolas in terms of radios.. moto's are going to win everytime, lol :)

I am going to chime in on the launcher thing.

After brief stints on both apex and nova, there is a whole bunch of options more to tweak your launcher experience with ADW EX. ADW is a much more mature platform and it shows. You can change stuff like backgrounds, icons and text color in the app drawer and I believe its the only one with vertical scrolling. The vertical 4d scroll option is killer.
The gesture options are more extensive, the homescreen transition animations are impressive (13 of them and you can randomize). The themes and dock bar options are over the top. Just going through the adw settings can overwhelm you.
The stuff mentioned above only scratches the surface with what adw can do.
Am I an adw pimp? Kinda.

If I wanted to run ADW I would have kept my bionic, lol... I wouldn't put that over my beautiful ICS - apex or nova get ICS right :P

Just my opinion, of course, to each his own ;)

I don't get what you mean. Are you saying adw ruins ics? In what way?

IMO... I think that stock ICS is too nice to put a launcher like ADW over it.. that's why I recommend only nova or apex since they're based on that stock look and feel, just have more options. ADW was fine to run on my bionic because it sure beat the hell out of gingerblur... but I personally wouldn't want it on my nexus.

I understand it has a ton more options but its all stuff I don't want/need anyway. Apex has more than I need and keeps the system feeling like pure ICS.

But hey, its android, you have choice, if you like ADW then screw my opinion, run whatever pleases you, haha :)

I agree. I am really digging Apex. It leaves just enough stock ICS, and has just enough customization to make a happy customer.

Another question is my Android version is showing 4.0.2. People are saying there is 4.0.4 out there and things. Shouldn't this downloadable through the phone update, or is it just leaked stuff?

Thanks again. You guys are all so great and sooo much help. My wife now gets to fall in love with my old Bionic and I get to fall in love with my new ICS! ;-)

4.04 is a leak. We probably won't see an official 4.04 release, more likely 4.05 or something afterwards.

You can download and install the 4.04 radios, bootloaders, and rom if you wish.
They're available separately and all together, just make sure if you choose to install the ROM portion, that you select a version of it WITH ROOT, otherwise you will lose root when you upgrade.

If you are just flashing the radios and the bootloader, you don't risk losing root.

If you need help locating the proper files just ask, some of the very helpful ppl here should be able to point you in the right direction.
