Hi Everyone

I've had my G4 H815 since around Oct 2015 with no major issues until now. Today I got the error message "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped working" when I tried to use the stock camera app. When I try to take a photo the screen just goes black and then the phone returns to the home screen after about 5 seconds and the error message appears. I have tried to access the camera through other apps like instagram but to no avail. Even the torchlight button in the pull down menu doesn't turn the light on...

But wait there's more. On top of this my Contacts app isn't working either! When I received a call the usual buttons that appear on the screen that allow me to accept/decline the call didn't show up. There was nothing, just my phone ringing and I couldn't do anything! I then tried to call back but that's when the error message "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped working" appears and I have no way of ending the call. I dismissed the error message but it reappeared several times.

I have searched for some answers but have found none so far. I have tried many things. All of these have not solved the issue:
1) clearing the cache of both the camera and contacts apps then trying again
2) clearing the cache and data of both the camera and contacts apps then trying again
3) force closing the apps and then trying again
4) booting in Safe Mode but the same issues persist
5) factory reset but again neither Contacts or Camera work

I'm at my wits end... any ideas/suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Send off for repair / replacement. Since you have tried everything else that appears to be the only option left and would signify a major fault with your handset.

:(
Thx JGLdn. I was hoping someone may have had the same problem and managed to fix it or could suggest something I haven't tried. However, it looks like sending off to repair/replace is my last option.

I will try and post back with any updates in case others are interested.

Cheers.

Well it's been a while since the issues appeared. I was just about to send it to off to the manufacturer shortly after making the original post when it spontaneously fixed itself. No idea how that happened but the camera started working fine and the incoming call interface appeared as normal. It had been working fine since that time until today... boot loop... :(

I've tried to get to the factory reset screen but can't seem to do so. Looks like I will now have to send off for repair.

I also had the same issue. Many users on here seem to. Must be software or firmware related.

I deleted cache and data of the camera all, call app, gallery app, contacts app, and call services app. Then, I clicked reset all preferences and when I tried to go to the main age I was asked if I want to use easy home or the regular home interface. I clicked easy. The issue was solved.

Interested in updates btw since I have the same issue. I have managed to fix it every time it has occurred but I'm wondering if you were told if it's software or firmware related
