Downloaded and installed the new Google Camera from apk mirror. I'm still checking it out, but no issues so far.

Me, too. I'm recovering from a minor surgery so most of my testing has been from a balcony. I'll be walking a couple of miles today to visit my doctor so I should get more out of it then.

I enjoy Android's willingness to put new software on old phones and to even port it to phones by other manufacturers.

No "astro" mode. The mod with the up to 60 second exposure time was better.

For anyone using 7.0, is the issue of Google assistant "take a selfie" or "take a picture" commands only opening camera/not taking the picture, resolved?

I resolved the problem by uninstalling the latest Camera app and going with the previous version. The TAKE A PICTURE function is now working properly. I have disabled Play Stores AUTOMATIC UPDATES so it won't update automatically. Hopefully, the next update of Camera will fix it.

Haha yes it is. I have It installed already. I like the fact that there is a quick shortcut for uploading to slack.

Modded Camera app PX3.0 version 7.2 is now available via the XDA forums.

This will add astro photography mode to older pixels including the 3.0 devices. It installs as a separate camera app, Camera PX so you can still use your unmodded Google camera app too. There are no settings for astrophotography. It turns on automatically in night sight. We're going to have a cloud cover for the next couple of nights where I live so I'll have to wait to try it out.

I was about to ask what's the difference between the .1 and the .2 update.

Edit I installed the 7.2 version via the APK Mirror and is it me or is the font smaller for "Portrait" "Video" and so on? Also question about the Astro Photography thing...I don't have a tripod so could I get the same results by putting the camera in Night Sight and set a timer and lay the phone on the ground with the lense pointed up?

No, you're right, In Google camera version 7.2 versus 7.1, the camera font is more alive with Android 10 which means it's smaller. The astro photography mode really means that in night mode focus fall out and yeah would help if you had a tripod but if you don't just have your hand steady for about a minute or so and the phone will take a beautiful picture of the Stars.

Do these camera versions also include improvements to the regular shooter modes? The Pixel 3 and Pixel 4 use the exact same Sony lens, so i'm wondering if the computational software upgrades are in these files too.

Also, not sure if mentioned yet, but Google did confirm that the Astro mode is coming to the Pixel 3 in a future update.

well, as far as I can tell, v7.2 doesn't change any computational processing. Astro photography mode is in night shot mode we need to do far out focusing. I know a guy from the gym that has a pixel 4 XL l,and of course we played with our cameras automatically. Both got the same exact shot when you focus correctly on the subject.
