Camera APK (want Epic camera app/apk on EVO)

I need a developer, or someone with more knowledge about Android to tell me if this is possible. My wife has the Samsung Epic. Her camera app has a panorama feature. This feature has to do with software, correct? Is it possible to take the camera.apk from and Epic and replace the camera.apk on my EVO? I have installed the PhotoStitch app all ready, but the pictures from her panorama are much better than mine. The UI is much better as well.

I do not wish to install a custom rom on my phone. I have rooted my phone.

If this is possible, will someone help me get the Epic camera.apk onto the EVO?

I had the Epic for about a week and a half and this is the only feature I miss from it. Would love if somebody was able to figure this out because the pano pics there are awesome.

I'll look into it for you, but in all actuality its most likely not possible.

The epic has bettet camera drivers is why yours don't look as good too, htc has realized this with the camera upgrade on the newer hardware versions of the evo.

Ya there's really no way to do that. They use completely different cameras. I suppose it is possible to somehow create a panoramic option, but that would probably take some serious coding to get it done. It's probably better if someone just made an app. PhotoStitch is good, but it's nowhere near as good as the native Droid X and Epic pano option....


As far as the camera itself, I've done a lot of research on the camera on the Evo. Turns out the camera on the Evo is actually REALLY REALLY good. Hell they even use it on traditional P&S's. So why is the camera not as great as it should have been? In HTC's great wisdom they decided to use generic Qualcomm driver for the camera/camcorder instead of the correct Omnivision driver. The camera in the Evo is almost identical as the one found in the iPhone 4. Unfortunately there's only so much a developer can do to improve the quality of the pictures. And since using a camera app from a totally different camera is out of the question, we're just about stuck with what we have in terms of camera quality. There is some hope for the camcorder. Can't get into it now but there might be a chance for some decent improvements in the framerate capture.. I wanna check some Sprint stores and see if I can see if any of them have a 004 hardware version... i wanna see how much better the camera quality is..

Is this still not a possibility? I gave up the Epic for the Evo a few weeks and I do miss the camera features!
