Camera app blue neon line on edge and volume rocker question

1) When I'm in the camera app (landscape) before taking a picture I see a blue line on the very very left edge of the screen (almost like the blue line when you reach the end of a scrolling list). It is easier to see if you put your hand in front of the lens to make it stand out against skin color. Is anyone else seeing this blue line?

Blue line doesn't show up in any other instance on my phone.

2) Is there a way to remove the "feature" of changing the ringer/silent/vibrate setting by pressing the volume rocker? I find myself always accidentally pressing it.

Regarding the blue line, I had the same issue in the camera app of my original Galaxy Nexus. Mine was more of a greenish-bluish color and it was evident in both portrait and landscape mode on the side of the phone nearest to the power button. I went to a Verizon Wireless store and showed the tech guys the issue. They saw the greenish-bluish line too. Because I was still in my exchange period, I was able to get a new replacement phone.

I just held my phone (in the camera app) as you described and I do not see any blue line. Does it show up in the picture? You could always go to a verizon store and check this out on the unit they have out. If it's just on your phone, get it replaced. I would also insist on seeing the manager if they want to replace it with a refurb.

I have the blue line on my GN, too. I see it best when pointing the lens at a dark area, like under a desk. It was on my original and the replacement.

EDIT: Just cover the lens with your hand and the blue line on the far left is prevalent.

You could always try sending Samsung an email and see what they say about it. Not seeing it on my phone, I have no idea how big of a deal it is. I will say that if you have to hold it a certain way, under certain conditions, it sounds like it's pretty hard to notice.

I have it, although even when looking for it, it is hard to see. I would say it is just a border for the Camera app. It doesn't show in any other app that uses the camera, and it doesn't show in pictures taken with the Camera app.

It does appear to be the border of the camera app. I feel like it isn't a screen issue that a replacement would fix because it only shows in the camera app.
Pointing the camera at a dark spot will make the blue line easier to see.

I just really noticed this on mine for the first time so I did a search and it seems like others have the same issue. It really isn't a major deal as you can't see it in every situation and it doesn't show up in the pictures. I don't really think it's worth exchanging for, but it's good to see I'm not alone. Maybe an update will take care of it. Who knows?

Think I'm agreeing with those who say its a border for the camera app. It is less noticeable, but it is also along the edge on the bottom (if portrait) or right (if landscape) where the image bumps into the controls.

I'd say not an issue. Move along. :)

Nothing to see here. :D

I agree that I don't think it's really an issue, especially if it doesn't have any effect whatsoever on the functionality of the camera or the pictures themselves.

I have the blue line and don't mind it until I looked closer and the line isn't straight across, it's like it's one pixel across at the bottom and NTT the time it gets to the top is almost all gone. but whatever it doesn't do anything bad.
