Camera app suggestions

I have an S8+ and have been using Open Camera for my camera app. I'm not happy with it as the shutter often fails to trip when I press the on-screen button. It'll sit there, apparently trying to focus or something. I'd like to try something else. All I want is a simple point & click camera that captures images and video (with sound). Naturally, free and ad-free always is best, but I don't mind paying, especially if I can try it first and then upgrade. Thanks.

Why not use the Samsung camera app that came with the device? I've yet to find a generic Android camera app that is as good as the camera app built for the specific device/OS.

Thanks. I found that it's inextricably tied to Bixby, which I find useless and annoying. If I could get rid of Bixby, I would.

I only ever saw one thing with Bixby with the stock camera and that was the message to show you that Bixby is available thru the camera. after you click it once and then leave it'll just be a eye in the corner and never bothers again... I think the camera app is pretty good but to each their own I guess

Well, I revisited the Samsung app and I think you're right. It really isn't bad and seems easy to use. So, I switched back. One thing: is there a button or setting to turn audio on/off when capturing video? Thanks.

Not thru the camera app (as far as I'm aware)

but in the gallery if you go to a video and press edit (little pen) it'll give you the option to lower the volume all the way to 0 so if you do that than export its basically a video with no sound. Hope that helps!

Just recording video normally should pick up the sound from about as large an area as the speakerphone does.

Thanks. I can't find the little pen or any option to edit the video. I attached a screenshot FWIW.screen18-10-31-07-46-18.jpg
