Hi all,

I have never rooted my device but I found out the famous camera tint issue with lowlight images where it tints blue to black areas. I do think that this wasn't there when i bought the phone, htc sent a camera update notification which I updated so maybe maybe that caused the tint. I'm not sure but would rooting the device and flashing a Rom that's running on 4.3 resolve the issue? If yes then please recommend the best ROMs out there. Also the stock tv app is missing from my phone.

I love this phone, the blue tint got me worried!

Please help! :-[

Welcome to the forums.
Rooting alone won't help. Flashing a different ROM might. As I do not have the One, I cannot make many suggestions. I know Slim is available for the One depending on carrier, but that is an AOSP ROM (Vanilla Android).

I have seen people on xda that had the tint and were running custom Roms and had to exchange the device. Now, that doesn't mean it won't help if you load a custom ROM since it could be a software issue. I think you should go ahead and try it. If you want to stick with sense, go with Android revolution or insert coin if you want a good stable build with customization. If you want a Google play edition ROM, sinless all the way. That's what I've been rocking for a long time now and highly recommend it.

Thanks guys!

Ok this is a little scary... It is under warranty, hardware and software both in the country I Iive in. I hope it covers replacement too if it's an hardware issue, although I don't think this issue existed when I bought the phone. Getting me a title worried. Fingers crossed.

I would not want Google edition Rom. I got bored of it on my nexus 3. I think I pretty much like the sense. Htc has not released 4.3 yet for my device, got no notification hence all the trouble of rooting and flashing.

Guys, apple JB phones used to have cydia. What's the equivalent of that on android flashed ROMs ?

I asked someone on xda who had that issue. He flashed Roms to try to get rid of it and it never helped. He said if he were you, he'd just replace it. You could also try resetting to factory and see if that helps. If that doesn't and you still want to flash a ROM, I'd say go for it, you never know. But remember, if it doesn't help and you end up wanting to replace it, you'll have to put it back to stock.

Ok. Where can I make a proper backup of everything on my phone before trying out the factory reset option? :O

The beauty of flashing Roms is that you can flash a ROM with those updates. With the sense Roms I listed, they're both updated to 4.3 and sense 5.5.

As for the cydia thing, there really is not an equivalent central hub. Every ROM has its own characteristics and tweaks. Some Roms do have their own hubs for various settings and tweaks, but nothing like cydia.

What are you looking to back up? Any saved pictures or videos or music will still be there. App data such as text or call history or game data will be erased. Since you aren't rooted, you could try helium from the play store.

Guys... I did a factory reset and got the stock camera app back from which I took the first image. You can see the tint clearly in it although this was a lit up room. Now, I received the camera application update notification (which turns the icon to orange and adds the HDR feature only) after that update I took the picture again in the same light environment. You can see its much better but still visible in the corners. So I'm assuming its a software issue? No?

Also how bad is it? I don't take pictures below this light level so....maybe one can do with it?

Ps. I haven't rooted yet. So it's running 4.1.2 and I used helium (it backed up the app data but I'm downloading all apps again) and used htc sync software for media backup in case I lose it all.

What did you take a picture of?

I can clearly see the difference and it is much better like you said. It could also be a hardware problem still an the new update you got better compensates for that issue and makes the picture less tinted. If that very slight tint doesn't bother you then I'd wait for the 4.3 update for your phone and maybe that'll also help.

But I still see it if only one light is on in the room. You are right, I'll wait for the update definitely but I've no idea why haven't it hit my mobile yet. Been months no? Which phone are you using? Replacement isn't easy here... I love this phone. Any other good ones coming out by December or something?

Where are you at? The 4.3 update is going around now in the US and should be hitting international soon I believe...or it already has as well.

What do you mean any other good ones? Phones?

Slightly bluish if two lights are on otherwise bad in one light. Do u think it can be ignored and just keep using it? Confusion!

My android app doesn't notify me when I receive a reply on forums even when subscribed. Just read the thread.

Well I can't say if you can live with it or not, if its not too bad then maybe don't let it bother you.
