Camera control question

When using the selfie camera if I press the gear icon I see an icon of 2 faces. They alternate between facing the same direction or facing away from each other. Can someone tell me what this button does?

Orientation of the pic. One is a mirror image and the other is how you see it on the screen. Can't remember which is which.

So when I press it should it change on my screen immediately? There is no change when I press it.

It is immediate when you press it, but you have to turn your head etc to make the inversion stand out

It doesn't change your screen immediately. It mirror the pictures that you take in your gallery.

The faces both looking left is the photo taken as a reflection, so what you would see in a mirror. With the faces away from each other, it's how other people would see you.

The most obvious BIG giveaway would be if there is any writing (say a logo on a shirt, or something in the back ground) would be reversed on the mirror image option. Took me ages to figure it out and stumbled across it accidentally.

That's where I was confused. I was wearing a t-shirt with the word Mexico on it and no matter how many times I push that little button the words Mexico were always reverse. For whatever reason the change doesn't show up on the screen but they show up when you take a picture.

The obvious solution of course... just wear TShirts with palindromes on them to remove the confusion =D

Well, it does not change what you see on the screen. It only shows on the pics that are taken. So take a pic, click the button, take another pic, then click the view Hutton to see the pics you took. The will be mirror images of one another.
