no actually HTC got 12MP with f/ 1.8 and OIS while Google pixel got 12 MP with f/2.0 with EIS

The sensor is different, it is the newest Sony one. The front facing camera is the one from the nexus 5 back camera.

The autofocus is better too, plus the software is miles ahead. They really nailed the camera this time.
