Camera lag anyone?

Is anyone else experiencing camera lag? It takes a good 20sec-1min to load the camera and then another 10-20sec for the picture to process (can't take back to back photos). Also, I've been experiencing intermittent lags since the latest update. Are others experiencing these issues? It's quite annoying, since it wasn't like this over the past two months.

I haven't had a single issue with the camera. Just tried the double tap to wake and took a picture all in under 10 seconds.

I lace camera lag as you describe. It didn't use it much before the update but I agree that the update seems to have made it worse. Other apps lag as well. I'm on Fi and suspect that. I'm switching back to vz for a week to see if that has an effect.

Yes it's horrible and needs to be updated. I am not on Fi and there is lag when the phone wakes or the camera starts... always.

In general, the camera is pretty zippy for me, but there are times when it can bog down. I think it just depends on what you're doing at any given time when you activate the camera. Regardless though, it is very likely a software issue that Google will address in time.

My camera was pretty zippy too on Christmas day. I took multiple shots about 1sec apart for each group photo. I did not notice any lag, but one of my panorama photos ended up distorted (that was a big group shot so I was kind of bummed).

I've heard that HDR will slow down the processing. Will have to look and see if HDR was on any of the Christmas photos.

I'd test in safe mode (without launching any of the 3rd party apps) to see what the baseline performance is like....

I've noticed lag most when trying to use the camera straight out of Doze. I always keep Auto HDR+ on, so that's likely a contributer as well. If the phone is fully up and awake, launching the camera and snapping a pic takes no time at all, though HDR limits the number of pics I can take back-to-back. When awaking from Doze, it can take many seconds for the camera to launch and take the first picture.

I just timed it and I can open the camera app and take a picture in under 3 seconds. HDR slows it by maybe 1 second. I'm so happy with my 5X I'm strongly leaning towards returning my 6P when I thought it would be the other way around.
