Camera lag

Lately I've been experiencing some pretty significant lag with my camera app that I never use to see. I use to use Camera NX, but that was just terrible. Now I just use the stock camera app.
Maybe I'm spoiled, coming over from Windows Phone.... because that was buttery smooth and I could take 10 photos in the time it takes to take 1 on my 6P. Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't see lag per se but I also don't take 10 pictures in a row. Of course, the HDR processing does take 'forever' so if that's what you're referring to then I'll have to agree that the complete start-to-finish experience isn't all that great.

Edit: I just took 10 pictures and it seemed to take 3 or 4 seconds before I could capture the next shot. Once I had snapped the last one it was probably another 30 seconds before the last one completed HDR processing.

For me it's a combination of things... between the HDR processing, the screen rotation if I want it in landscape, and just general slowness. Also what drives me nuts is I can't seem to get within 3-4ft of something, if I do, it doesn't focus in on the subject

Same thing on my 6p. It's painfully slow. But I always have my hdr on. I have noticed if I shut it off the camera is much quicker. But I'm not sure the pictures will turn out as good.

There's something strange going on there.

This picture was taken at about 6 inches from the water bottle and there's no issue with focus.
Maybe try clearing the Camera cache and data (and Force stop it while you're at it).

I'm not seeing this at all. If I rotate the phone between landscape and portrait while observing the viewfinder (the screen) I don't see any lag at all, and if I take a picture in one and switch to the other I'm able to take a picture just as quickly as I previously stated (3 seconds or so between snaps, not including HDR processing).

Definitely something weird going on with your device.
Does the same thing happen in Safe mode?
