Camera on 4:3 (12MB) but takes small MB pics?

Hi all,

Camera set to 4:3 (12MB) - 4032 x 3024 but when taking pics, they never come close to a 12 MB file size, even an outdoor nature pic. They're more like 3-5 MB?

Anyone know why? I'd like to print these off as large prints but can't.

Take another look at that resolution setting... I bet it says 12 MP, not 12 MB. My GS9 is set up to take 4:3, 12 MP photos and they're about the same size (usually between 3 and 4 MB).

A 12MP picture does not mean the file will be 12MB. It's just a measure of how many pixels are in the picture. And some pictures will be bigger or smaller than others depending on what is in the image.
