Camera only works on stock ROM!

I am running the latest update Verizon sent out (the multi view one)? and have successfully rooted and unlocked my phone. I made a nandroid backup and a Titanium backup first? then I flashed the latest version of Synergy ROM. It functioned just fine? but neither the stock nor the aosp camera would work. They both crashed upon opening. Figuring it may be an issue with the ROM? I reverted to my nandroid backup and then flashed the latest version of HyperDriveROM. I had the same issue here. Any camera I tried would crash upon opening. Is there any way to get my camera working on custom ROMs? It works just fine on stock Touchwiz.

Were you running the latest software from Verizon when you flashed? I've read that no custom ROM cameras will work if flashing from the latest build.

No, but I don't think it works like that. Try clean rom and see what happens.

You could also flash the b1 modem and rpm.

Do I install this the same way as a custom ROM? What exactly does it do to my phone? I can't imagine it's a full software reinstall as its only 25 megabytes. Will I lose my data?

Also? on a related note? my LED flash doesn't work on any of the ROMs I've tried? either. The torch toggle in multiple ROMs simply causes SystemUI to crash.

Yes flash the same way you would a rom. It installs the radio and rpm. As far as your other problems, your now dirty flashing are you? No data loss.

Nope? not dirty flashing. I restore the phone and clear both caches multiple times before flashing new ROMs. I'll have to try flashing that file? I guess.

Interestingly? the camera (and flashlight) worked just fine on Paranoid Android. It seems that TouchWiz ROMs are the problem? although I have not tested enough to say that with certainty. That is unfortunate? as I can't seem to bringyself to use a non-TW ROM. I love the camera features Samsung includes.

I have a question.. you said you made a titanium backup after you rooted. Did you try to restore the stock camera software to your custom Rom? That might be a cause. You should only restore non stock applications. It could crash a custom rom. Just wondering. Forgive me if that is not the case.

No? I actually haven't tried restoring backed up apps to any ROMs. It isn't worth the time? as I can't use a ROM without a functioning camera. I've tried flashing other cameras? too. I successfully flashed the stock 4.2 camera? but that didn't work either.

Well? this is interesting. I tried release 14 of Hyperdrive (I had previously been using r13) and everything worked fine! I may try flashing Synergy again? just to check if the camera is still broken on that.

Did you ever figure what the problem was? Same problems on my phone (VZW with latest Synergy ROM). Synergy runs great on my ATT S3. Thanks

A lot of the camera problems that I've been reading about relate to having compatible versions of the ROM and the modem and rpm stuff. For example, when you flash the latest version of CleanROM (CleanROM Seven), you should also flash the MF1 modem zip. Or you can flash the MB1 modem and rpm zips, they're compatible as well (I hear, I have MF1, myself). But you do need to pay attention to the modem and rpm parts to keep your camera working (especially if you have the MD3 modem and RPM from the bad OTA update, or modem version older than MB1).
