The error when I attempt to install anything from the Play store is "Error: no connection".
  • SM-T210R
  • Factory reset (re-flashed Stock ROM)
  • Android 4.4.2 (KitKat)
I found a similar thread here but I'm hoping that someone either has a solution or a different (newer) ROM that I can load onto this old tablet and get a little more life out of it to keep it out of the landfill. I only want the tablet to run the Alfred Security Camera app, so it needs Lollipop (5.x) or higher. If that won't work, maybe I could give it to some little kid to draw on, etc.

Thanks.

Edit: I should add that I already tried going into Settings, Apps, and clearing the cache for Google Play Store. Nada.

Factory resetting doesn't "reflash" anything. It just clears out the existing OS setup and puts it in "like new" or "first time setup" condition. But it does that with the OS already installed.

The other issue is that last month Google cut off Play Store support for KitKat.

So you need Android 5 or newer to get anything from the Play Store anyway.
