Camera pics "soft"

So, while taking pictures, the image looks great on the phone while composing (sharp, bright, in focus) I then take the picture and the initial preview looks spot on but when I tap on the picture I just took to view it, it comes up much softer and almost fuzzy. I have played with the settings to no end (sharpness, contrast, etc) but nothing seems to do the trick.

This tends to happen mostly when taking pictures of people, but does happen with other pictures as well. I am not sure if it is a software or hardware issue - just wondering if others are seeing this as well. Thanks.

I had the same issue on my first HTC Inspire. My second took dramatically sharper pictures.

Have you tried Burst Mode? Hold the picture button for a few sec, you will hear it snapping a few - and then you can choose the best one. I do that sometimes when taking pics I expect to be blurry.
